We have proven that a healthy MU can beat anyone.  We can still make a lot of noise before the end of the BET, with or without TK.  Let's get as healthy as possible and if costs us a seed line or two, I'd trade that for health.

When do you want him to re-aggravate? BEast tourney or NCAA tourney?

I think that goes beyond optimism.

This injury of TK also makes me feel even worse for Sean Jones.

This would be a fun little week and a half for him to get some shine and man could we use him for depth.

Most depressed I have ever been as an MU fan.  And I can't even imagine what Tyko and the team with Shaka must be feeling right now.  Beyond unlucky and it absolutely sucks.

Never makes me feel good when I see "will be reevaluated" in a couple weeks.

Exactly the phrasing they used with Chase. Said he would be reevaluated later in January. He played right after that.

If he made good improvement in 3 days, I think he'll be good to go in 3 weeks.

100%, I am more concerned about our seed to be honest. I want the two seed so we can play the 15 seed without Kolek if he is not ready and then clearly have a game where we still have the chance to win against the 7/10 seed without him. We lose the next three though and things shift drastically.

Oh, the drama.

FFS Muggs, can we at least wait until we have some actual information on Kolek's availability for the NCAA tournament before we climb on a ledge and contemplate jumping?

Sort of. But throw in the diminutive backup pg being out too and that's an even worse feeling.

He's not dead.  I'd be shocked if he's not able to play the first weekend of the tourney.  Step off of the ledge for now.

Marquette has the guys to win both the remaining regular season games. My thought process it that because its not a season ending injury Kolek can choose when to come back and just take pain killers.

The report didn't say it wasn't a season ending injury, either. It merely said he won't play the next 6 days and then they'll "re-evaluate". One of the few things I've learned over the years is to take all pronouncements regarding injuries with a huge grain of salt, whether college or pros, whether coming from Marquette or any other team or program. People heal differently. Sometimes teams don't want to deliver bad news until they absolutely have to.

I'm getting kind of an eerie feeling about this situation.

That's also fair and I applaud your positivity in this situation.  I genuinely look forward to being told my fears and concerns of the unknown were overblown.

But to the original post by Galway, at first blush I do find it to feel a bit like 08-09 after losing Dom in the sense of a dread-like feeling upon seeing the release.  Oblique injuries are tricky and this sort of press release means it's trickier than "man, just feels a little funny, let's see how I feel tomorrow." I also was noting that this time we don't have a Junior Mints backup to fill in like Sean would have barring injury.

All of the above notwithstanding, I'll still be out there cheering our guys on for the rest of the season (and beyond). It's a hell of a group that leaves it all out there and plays for each other.

You're right comparing it to a year where our star PG went down when we were ranked 8th in the nation is a terrible comp. What were we thinking, basically the same as saying the season is over.

I am having those flashbacks, though I think this is potentially a lot worse.

The 09 team had McNeal, Matthews, and Hayward, and a serviceable backup for James in Maurice Acker.

Kolek really drives this team’s offense and , especially with Sean Jones already out, if Kolek can’t play in the NCAA tournament this team’s ceiling becomes really low.

I wouldn't read much into this...yet. This isn't very surprising news.

There is zero reason for him to play these next two games.  A 2 or 3 seed in the BET are essentially the same thing. We are basically a 2 or 3 seed in the NCAA as well. Little difference between the two.

No flashbacks at all here.

This is a different team - a better one IMHO - and a different circumstance. Plus, we have absolutely no clue whether or not Kolek will be able to play effectively in the NCAA tournament.

As I've stated before...unless it is completely torn and they are just playing mind games with reporting...then he's gonna play in the NCAA Tournament.

His legs are healthy so he can still run up and down the court regardless of his limitations...good luck keeping him off the court in an elimination game with that being the case.

I just don’t understand what people were expecting.

He was never gonna play these last two games. There’s no reason too.

Maybe the injury is really really bad. But nothing that’s been announced implies one way or the other
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....
