This weekend wreaked havoc on the bubble. While UConn, Marquette, and Creighton can feel secure, the rest of the league is in turmoil as one blue blood fell completely out of the field and others are scrapping for bids. Cracked Sidewalks looks at where the Big East teams stand and what they need to do to solidify their March hopes. We also update the S-Curve after a weekend that saw massive upheaval from the 3-line on down.

Brew,

I've seen a bunch of brackets where we matchup with Vermont as the 3/14. Would the committee ever do that? Same 1st round matchup as last year.

I know that is just how the numbers fall for some bracketologists but would the committee really do that 2 years in a row?

The Selection Committee principles state that rematches from the previous tournament should be avoided in the first four and first round if possible.

So, another MU-Vermont first round game would be unlikely. It shouldn't be hard to flip Vermont to a different pod.

One of the guidelines is not to have in season non-con rematches and not to have rematches from the previous year's NCAA tournament. Very unlikely they would do that unless there was no other option (and there's almost always options).

Good to know. Thanks Brew and wisblue.
