He's always spoken highly of you.

Hating Stevie is one of the most bizarre Scoop takes ever, which is saying something.

I gotta go Oso - after those shooting woe games early in the season, dude has just been super solid night in and night out.

Tyler's double-double great - but missing clutch FTs no bueno. And, hasn't he forgotten he plays in the big east? He kept moaning for calls - once or twice at the expense of getting back down the floor. Our guys were literally being thrown to the floor away from the ball. And then he did get the cheapy touch foul late and missed the FTs.

Stevie got MU back in the game after they were down big... with his OFFENSE!
Tko eliminated from contention for missed FT's in the final minutes.
Oso had a great game.

I go with Stevie.

100% Stevie. Only guy who was playing basketball for the entire game.

And I hate Stevie.
Really. Then explain how he was torched by Jenkins. Participation trophy?

Oso played a terrific game. Honorable mention to Stevie.
This where I'm at, and I love Stevie. Oso too good on the defensive end.

Should be Oso because he's met the challenge every time we've played an elite big man on the other side. Looking forward to him schooling Clingan.

Love Stevie to death, but a lot of defensive screwups today.

Gang, I may be the only one who believes this but I'd give the Stud to Ben Gold. His defense on the last play forced an alteration of trajectory that led to a miss by St. John's.

Yeah, I know it is only one play but without last second defense by Gold, we have no stud.

Ben came up when it mattered on a day when defense mattered!

That was almost as bad as the plays Shaka drew up at the end of the Wisconsin (I think it was) game last year.

Throw it in to Soriano in the back court to look to make the down court pass? How about get the ball to your fastest guard and get him downhill. Force MU to defend a fast moving player and force the refs to have to decide whether to make a call, or get to the rim.

Throwing it in to Soriano to pass it to a streaking guard is straight out of the KO vs Kentucky playbook.  Brilliant press break technique.

Gold is moving much better over the last few games.  He needs something good to happen

That's not what they did though. They threw it to a stationary Soriano at the free throw line, who took 2 dribbles, and then threw it to a guy at the 3 point line.

So MU didn't win the game?

I thought that since we usurped them, that meant we won. No?

TK imo

Stevie was great for stretches. Oso was very good. But TK gets him those looks.

As Dauster said on field of 68 that second half(mostly the first 15 min) was possibly the best hes ever played for us.

Even with the free throw flubs 15/11/6 playing the entire second half is hard to overlook

Tyler forfeited SOTG at the foul line.
I agree with this given he was making 94% of his free throws.

It's ironic that you bring this up here, bc the other component of that O'Neill press break was devised to stop Pitino's Wildcats in 1994. When in doubt, call Lute and ask him the best way to foil Kentucky's press. O'Neill's former superior at Arizona responded, "have Tony (Miller, MU's stellar point guard) attack the biggest man on their press."

With all due respect to Dauster - who, unlike me and others here, hasn't seen every second of Marquette basketball these last 3 years - Kolek has had better games while also not missing critical FTs.

I'll stick with Oso for making himself available for those passes, and for blocking 3 shots, and for adding Soriano to the list of ballyhooed bigs he's outplayed.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Strong cases for Stevie, Tyler and Oso.

Stevie had the most critical plays on both sides of the ball and harassed Jenkins into 6 turnovers...but he had some significant defensive/rebounding lapses late.

Tyler easily had the best stat line and Oso doesn't have his success without Kolek..but he had three brutal free throw misses in crunch time, hard to call that studly.

Oso missed his first shot and then hit 8 of his next 9 and put in his usual fantastic defense on the other end.

I think I'd order them Oso, Stevie, Tyler but really any of them are worthy.
