Separation is anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks depending on severity.

For an athlete like Chase, 2 weeks seems reasonable assuming no structural damage/tears.

Dislocation seems to be more likely what happened here though based on where he was grasping the shoulder near the bicep. Similar timeline depending on severity.

Or his shoulder was out of his socket...

That's..uuhhh..what a dislocation is.

"Dislocation seems to be more likely"

Uh no duh - his shoulder was out of its socket.

Also - doesn't matter if you're an athlete or not. Soft tissue damage is inevitable from dislocation.

I said that at halftime before we knew what happened. We didn't know it was out of socket until after the game.

I suspected dislocation based on how he was holding his arm.

Or that his shoulder was clearly out of his socket...

The original impetus for this interaction was to tell people to please do not take medical advice from this guy. If you're curious, just google it yourself because that's all he's doing.

He's clearly out from between one day and the rest of the season.  We'll have to wait and see the severity.  Duh.

See, this is easy.  I could be a meteorologist too.

I'm in the same boat as Chase. Sports injury.

I have a severe intercostal muscle sprain (torn rib meat). Happened a week and a half ago - I had my Pickleball league Tuesday and went. Reality gutsy effort, but a lot of pain. Did ice therapy for a couple days, then moved to heat. Up until yesterday, incredible pain (when coughing, sneezing, laughing or twisting/moving just right). Yesterday and today, it's feeling better.

Coughing is still a b, but I'm Questionsble for tomorrow (fully plan to suit up and give it a go). Very worried I'll aggravate things and have a medical setback, but there are only two weeks of the league left.

I want to join another league that starts a week from Thursday (higher competition level), but am in a holding pattern to see how my body responds to tomorrow night.

You're really chasing the dragon here, JB.  Careful.

How is getting off the Crapper?

How is getting off the Crapper?

I broke some ribs playing basketball last year. Getting off the toilet was never an issue for me. Was able to continue playing basketball without a ton of issue. Getting into and out of bed was awful, blowing my nose, laughing, coughing, sneezing weren't fun. But putting on socks was one of the most painful things I'd ever felt.

Dislocation was evident with the initial replay, i.e. loss of shoulder contour and visible acromion process, this would not be seen with an AC joint separation. Like Panda said, it's difficult to dislocate the shoulder without additional soft tissue injury. I'm sure the MRI that's been done identified the extent of the injury.
