I have a buddy at the game that said it appears Chase is in a sling.

Time for some Freshman to step up into a limited role and the upperclassmen to take on more minutes. Time to grow up!

Yeah i thought it was a pretty clear shoulder separation live.

Is there a difference between a dislocation and a separation?

Anyone know the estimated recovery time for something like that?

Separation is anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks depending on severity.

For an athlete like Chase, 2 weeks seems reasonable assuming no structural damage/tears.

Dislocation seems to be more likely what happened here though based on where he was grasping the shoulder near the bicep. Similar timeline depending on severity.

Going to need surgery eventually for a likely torn labrum, may try to play through it the rest of the year, but it will be likely continue to dislocate periodically.

WellsstreetWanderer

depends on severity   I have done it twice in my youth and continued sports with no surgery ever.

Shaka said in the post-game he thought it pop out and popped right back in.

For a shoulder to dislocate, the anatomy is almost always compromised in some way to allow the dislocation. I would be very surprised if he didn't tear his labrum and require surgery now or after the season.

Hope Chase recovers fine.

I am not a doctor but I have dislocated my shoulder in football. The faster the shoulder goes back in the better you are but if it did pop out that is a dislocation. Chase will know what it was because the ligaments feel like elastic bands as they are stretched. When you or someone else pops it back in you can feel the ball joint grinding back over the socket as it snaps back into place. There can be bone chips as a result which typically are removed. I did not have chips but even so the recovery process was slow and difficult. The risk of repeated dislocations does increase. Surgery may be the best option, particularly for basketball and diving.

What is important is that Chase gets the best treatment possible and that he is not rushed back to playing too early. I wish him God speed and the hope he has a full recovery.

We can only pray.

But it was his shooting arm, for what that's worth :-\

When has Scoop's medical staff been right about anything in this message board's history?

According to these same experts, Kolek should only now be returning from his leg injury (does anyone remember that?).

Their prediction about injuries makes the troll who shorted Apple in 2016 look like a genius.

Who said Kolek would be out for 2 months with an ankle sprain? I do not remember that, no.

Ankles are just a wait and see. All depends on the level of turn and depth of swelling. Each person responds differently. Could be 8 weeks, could be back and ready by Tuesday. Whatever it is, Sean Jones and Chase Ross have showed that this team will be a tough out whatever happens with Kolek.  Hopefully he can play Tuesday, but definitely hope this doesn't affect his availability in Hawaii.

Apparently, the Scoop medical staff still has credibility.
