Rico is on Scoop's Mt. Rushmore.

Best part is who it irks.

Yeah, he's big in South Dakota.

And the idea that you're in awe of him irks me not at all. I think it's kinda cute.

My point is that there are many in the game thread stating that Stevie and Sean simply should not be allowed to shoot the ball.  Today shows why that philosophy in general is a poor one.

And the ultimate green light for mediocre to bad shooters can be a death sentence on the road.

Works at home when the crowd can keep the team engaged, but if all things are equal and today we're on the road, I don't see the same comeback happening.

Right. But a number on this board thinks he should.

Well yeah......that matters zilch.

I never said anything about "ultimate green light."  If they are open in the flow, they should be able to shoot if that's their best option.

And I don't think matters if they are at home or on the road.

Of course home vs road matters.

So you think a player like Stevie should shoot in certain situations at home but not on the road?

Can't say I'm necessarily in awe of Jefferson, Roosevelt, Washington, or Lincoln. But it's cool that you are!

I think that when you're playing at home in front of a high energy supportive crowd, it's easier to overcome possession killing 3 point misses by bad shooters.

Need to play smarter and tighter on the road to win. So in my mind, yes I don't think bad shooters should make a habit of taking 3s on the road.

Agree completely with your first paragraph. Not your second.

I agree for the most part. I do think having an experienced team makes a difference. This team hopefully has seen it all and should feel confident at home or away. These guys hung around for a reason and they should let it fly.

His philosophy on humor is the same as MU's vision on the offensive end. Keep shooting and it's bound to hit at some point !

Oh, this is an especially good one. Kudos!

I'm with you. I am good with the crew on Mt. Rushmore and can say that Rico is not on the scoop version of Rushmore, imo.

correct, it doesn't matter home or road...Stevie is equally terrible. I will say this, he has no conscience. Keeps chuckin'

Until Sean and Stevie prove they can make shoots they will almost always be open in the flow - other teams would rather they take wide open looks than our other guys take contested ones. I'm not clear on what you mean by "if it's their best option", but Stevie only seems to take the wide open corner 3.With Sean, I'm not so sure.

A great day with the family and cocktails were enjoyed. Truth be told, we are still chalk talking  and enjoying a long postgame.

My wife, daughter and I watched the game together. Later, we went out with my son-in-law, his brother and the brother's wife. The latter 3 could give 2 shytes about Marquette basketball (or any basketball), but that didn't stop my wife, daughter and I from reliving the best from this game. Kolek 'em if they didn't like all the MU hoops talk!

By "if it's their best option," I mean as long as they don't have someone wide open under the basket or something similar.

But my larger point is that there are a number of Scoopers who say that Sean and Steve shouldn't be allowed to shoot. That's just dumb. Everyone on the court should be allowed to shoot "their shot." The last thing anyone wants is for players to hesitate or think too much out there.

I have never once said that Stevie or Sean shouldn't be allowed to shoot. I will admit to saying, "Nooo!" the first couple times each rose up to shoot today. Eventually it became the ol' "Nooo! ... Yes!"

This is what I've tried to say in multiple game threads. Is it frustrating seeing our worst shooters miss a bunch of threes? Yeah, it can be.

But the path for this team to make a final four includes Stevie and Sean shooting confidently. If they don't shoot those shots, MU's ceiling is capped. And the key to the offense busting out and becoming the unit it was last year is for them to keep shooting and force teams to guard them out there so they can more easily force rotations and get better shots for their better scorers.

I sigh because this is just one of so many dead horses Rico beats on a regular basis. He can be funny, even insightful at times - but not nearly funny or insightful enough to repeat all of them over and over and over and over and over again.

That's where you'd be wrong.

But some things never change.

100%. Need to see Stevie and S Jones (and Jop and Ross) making teams pay to open the floor for the team
