Prices have gotten out of hand on Napa cabs because of the 2020 fires and most top producers skipping that vintage.  '21 and '23, though, are great vintages

If you like smokey reds, the best vintage is always the year after the burn. 21 is undervalued.

As for Cabs, coming from someone who lived 25 minutes from Napa, they are either good or bad. There are no average Cabs. As a result, I am a big Zin fan.

So, I'd prefer Zin over Cab anyway.  Big, bold Zinfandels are wonderful.  More versatile as a food pairing than people think, imo. 

The producers in Napa willing to make good Merlots are a value as well, especially off Howell Mountain.  I'm a sucker for Freemark Abbey Merlots

Best Zin fields are in LoCa. Anything in Napa or Sonoma are transplanted from there. Also, don't sleep on Livermore.
