CBP profile my people who landed here over 100 yrs before Mayflower. Most I've had to deal with are ignorant & low IQ.
Can't believe we're living in the land of F 452/1984/Animal Farm/Brave New World/Handmaid's Tale. When travel to Mars begins, expect Starship Troopers

El Guerrero 2

Are we really going to play on CBSSN while DePaul and Georgetown play on FS1... WTF?

tower912

As I understand it, CBS gets to choose some of the games, as opposed to FS1 dumping them.  I am comfortable speculating this is one of those games.

No, the best video game ever...

Was no Space Invaders, but it's up there.

That was my heyday, and I don't ever remember seeing Mario Bros in a standup cabinet in an arcade. I didn't think it even existed in that form until a few years ago.

That said, easiest 80's video games to identify if you walked into the arcade with your eyes closed:

1. Pac-man
2. Centipede
3. Donkey Kong
4. Joust
5. Pole Position

Mario Brothers definitely was a stand up arcade game. I worked in high school at Chuck-E-Cheese and the line to use it was always long. This would have been 1984-86.

The State House had Missile Command and I played it so often that when I'd go to bed and closed my eyes, I could see those damn lines going down the screen. I had to give it up!

Yessir! Had to use the comb/pen trick to get super speed. Add in Ms PAC Man, Galaga, Turbo, and Breakout, and I'm in. Honorable mention to Frogger, Tron, and Missle Command.

Double Dragon absolutely deserves to be in the conversation. Fantastic game, but the three-dimensional movement felt so transformational at the time. Awesome game and paved the way for both the beat-em-up and fighting games that dominated the 90s like TMNT, X-Men, Street Fighter II, and Mortal Kombat.

100%, definitely paved the way.

I was talking with my brother the other day, and he brought up playing Gauntlet. Loved that game, too.

Most definitely was a stand up game. For us growing up it was Showbiz Pizza where we would play Pitfall. We also had PinPan Alley and would spend hours playing the aforementioned Gauntlet. I was always the elf.

Great call. I put a lot of quarters into Gauntlet marathons. I think "Red Warrior...is about to die" will forever be etched in the memories of anyone that played it.

Explains why I never took my kids there? Yep.

This was the progression in video games for me:

Pong
Space Invaders
Asteroids
Missle Command
Pac-Man
Donkey Kong
Galaga
Ms. Pac-Man

I do remember playing a lot of Arkanoid in the arcade at MU freshman year.  That game was like Breakout and a shooting game combined.

90s kid was definitely TMNT II, Mortal Kombat 2 and NBA Jam.
