Curious if the conference realignment threw everything off and they will eventually get around now to figuring it out.

Did Feast week seem a little underwelming this year?  Is it the no PK thing?

Maui was best ever but everything else felt watered down and I couldn't figure out what the 3rd best tourney was.

Maui hogged many of the good teams with 5 of the current top 8 in Kenpom, which watered down the rest.

That was seriously nuts, has any other holiday tourney been nearly as stacked??

A lot of schools (such as Duke and Kentucky this year) run their own. Others just partner with a couple of additional schools (Michigan State and Arizona partnered with a couple low majors.)  So I wouldn't expect that Marquette will be travelling somewhere every year.

So we're bringing back The Classic?  Cool.

This might have played a factor but I think it has more to do with the fact Marquette was in the field.  Last year, we had a vested interest in Ft Myers and could still watch major tourneys like Maui.  This year you only needed to watch Maui and Ft Myers wasn't worth watching with Wisconsin in the mix.

I remember when MU ran their own. Pepsi Blue and Gold Classic. Was always with 3 other meh teams, expectation was the MU would always win the whole thing. Was pretty lame.

There was a point when the Classic was solid.

Wisconsin played in it every year and MU would usually secire a decent 3rd team at least. This was back when scheduling was more horse trading and less made for TV.

Last year had the Phil Knight Invitational and Phil Knight Legacy (2 separate tournaments).  Both of those had loaded fields.  UConn, Bama, UNC, Iowa State, Michigan State in the former and Purdue, Duke, Gonzaga, and Xavier in the latter.

Last year, Maui was still pretty good but had probably the 3rd best field.  Arizona, Creighton, San Diego State, and Arkansas.

Plus, Battle 4 Atlantis has Kansas vs Tennessee in the final.

This year was heavily slanted to Maui.  A big dropoff to the rest of the tournaments.

Yeah that may have been the case a while ago but when I was at MU they were playing the likes of Winthrop, IUPUI and Rice.

Get ready for the Maui Jim Mauiwaukee Jam! It's just the teams from the Maui Invitational 2023, but this time in the Fiserv.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I would guess that a Marquette sponsored MTE would two or three other P6 programs. Or maybe two mid-majors and one additional power program.

Looking at the Duke and Arizona MTEs, I'm not so sure. I doubt there are many P6 programs that want to sign up for an MTE that gives them true road games, unless you create one that rotates between a few programs.

Agree. I'm skeptical of how good a Fiserv MTE would look. I'd rather us play in another good neutral-court event.

What if this is the Chicagoland Classic we've been dreaming about for ages: Illinois, Marquette, Notre Dame and one other (dream is Kentucky) play at the UC.  Throw in a few local mid-majors (Loyola, Bradley, Valpo, Eastern Illinois) in a B bracket
