Love debating SoG when there are numerous worthy contenders after a hard-fought win against a good team!

True, 82, true. It's a nice problem to have.

Osp.

His defense on UCLA with 2 seconds left sealed it.

His dunks started it.

Now, if he would learn to shoot free throws consistently!

Unlikely unless the form changes.

Sean Jones for SOTG.

Good luck Rocky! When there’s a clear SOTG, he has 5 days to make the call. When it’s close, he has a few hours.

Lots of prisoner of the moment takes here. Without Joplin, Marquette loses by at least 19

this. And amazing defense too. Jop is sotg

Sadly, he's been fairly "consistent"

Are you anti diminutive citizens?????  Watch the 17-0 run and the last minute.  :)

I really like Sean Jones and he's going to win plenty of SOTGs before his time at Marquette is done. But I'm not sure I want to award SOTG based - in large part - on a shot that caused every right-thinking Marquette fan watching to scream, "No, no, no, yes!"

He shoots them consistently.   He does not make them consistently.

Jop would be a very worthy choice, as would Oso and Sean. Not sure why insulting fellow Scoopers just because they disagree with you is your go-to post.

Given that you always say Jop, even when he doesn't play well, you would have earned some cred (or at least a chuckle) if you had simply said, "Stevie."

Oso, he was the force behind that 17-0 run and changed the momentum of the game.

Yup, had to go quickly.  *Hopefully* Oso only gets 24 hours in the spotlight before I'm forced to make another quick decision!

Adem Bona - All PAC Twelve 1st Team Selection, averages 18 points and 8.7 boards - Held to 13 points and 3 boards
Berke Buyuktuncel - Future lottery pick - Held to 0 points, 4 rebounds on 0-5 shooting - posterized twice
Aday Mara - Supposedly a future lottery pick - Held to 0 point, 2 rebounds on 0-1 shooting

UCLA's strength was in their big men. Oso outshone them all and his dunks were what sparked our run and then knocked it up a notch. Oso was the stud.

Honorable mentions to Jop and Sean "ONIONS" Jones

Yep.

Not even close.  Sean and his lock down defense. UCLA started their offense 12-15 seconds into every possession. The Mad Leprechaun had to burn two time outs to set a play (and Shaka then switched to zone).

12-15 seconds into the possession?  That's early for Mick Cronin teams.

I’m going Jop, the missed FTs by Oso broke the tie for me.  I wish Oso would’ve spent all that time in the offseason that he spent behind the 3 point line, instead at the foul line.  I actually believe shooting 3s messed with his FT stroke.

Let’s get good Kam & good Tyler, with what we had last night and get a Baylor performance vs the Jayhawks.  We owe them a beat down (or two)!

Sean Cojones it is.

Though I (and rocky) disagree with the choice, he had a nice game ... and that's a GREAT nickname. Well done, brew.

And for all the attention he's getting for that 3 and his D (well-deserved), that was one sweet move Sean had for the layup. Totally okey-doked the defender into thinking he was taking the ball back out of the lane.

Agree on the nickname. And thanks to several posters pointing out his effectiveness getting into the lane when no one else could (he looked dwarfed in there) and disrupting the Bruin offense, I appreciated his contribution more this morning than I did last night.

"Projected first round pick"      I admire the optimism.    But Oso more than held his own against a stable of long, talented forwards.     Showed he can handle with either hand and initiate offense at 6'11.

I actually thought that Oso may have taken another forward last night as a player. It seemed that he played, tougher, more aggressively and showed true leadership with his play. It felt like he knew he was playing against extremely good big men and he decided to move into a higher gear. He has shown glimpses before, and I think last night be the start of even bigger things from him the rest of the way. He looked much closer to an NBA player last night, IMO.
