They are a 4 seed at best

Princeton won the regular season Ivy title with a 105-83 win over Penn.

They are 24-3 on the season and, if they win the 4 team conference tournament (which is no given), they could be a first round challenge for a 4 or 5 seed. I don’t think they would be seeded 15 again this year. They have a Ken Pom rating of 52 and Yale and Cornell (2 of the teams they lost to on the road) are in the top 100.

I think the Ivies are benefitting from some of the transfer chaos because their players don’t transfer. So, they get teams with players who play together for several years.

Then a jumble of Marquette, Iowa St., Duke, Baylor, and Creighton.  (After Kansas getting blown out and Dickinson getting hurt I can't imagine they can still get a 2).  As wisblue said, a lot of losses in our favor today. 

Curious to see what the updated brackets look like after this weekend.  Also seems pretty clear there's no chance Marquette falls any lower than a 3 seed.

1. Houston, 2. Purdue 3. UConn (whoever wins their conf tourney gets the overall 1, if 2 win who knows?) 4. UNC. 5. Arizona, 6. Tennessee, 7. Marquette, 8. Creighton, 9. Iowa St, 10. Duke, 11. Baylor, 12. Kentucky.

Feels like those final 3 seeds are up for grabs. Kansas and Bama still in play there.

That second spot in Indy still in play with MU v Creighton. Could come down to the BET.

That said, is it better to lose game 1 to Providence or lose again to Creighton to stay ahead of them on the S Curve?
Weird question, I know, but it’s actually debatable if Tyler doesn’t play in the BET.

I saw Creighton coming strong for that Indy spot and Marquette might actually still get a 2 but lose Indy, odd end of the season

Seems unlikely though, as the bracketologists and the committee to follow are creatures of habit and stick with what’s been said in the past month.

They are so engrained in people’s mind as a 1/2 that I think it’s hard to move to a back end 3 and end up in the Midwest or out east.
Kansas might be a bit different because it’s been a longer problem and there’s injury stuff.

I agree that the BET will decide the relative seeding between MU and Creighton.

I also agree that MU is slightly ahead of CU now but, if CU beats MU in the semifinal,that would flip them ahead. I also think they go ahead if MU loses to Nova and CU advances to the final. It would be a closer call if Nova would also beat CU in the semifinal.

I would absolutely not play Kolek if he is not completely ready just to try to improve NCAA seeding. I don’t think having one of the last number 2 seeds as opposed to one of the top 3 seeds makes enough difference in the team’s prospects for advancement in the NCAA (if it makes any difference at all) to warrant rushing Kolek into action.

We should have some discussion over the next few days about the advantage of having a 2 seed vs a 3 seed. Maybe I’ll start a separate thread for that.

BTW, I don’t necessarily agree that MU and CU are currently in consecutive positions on the NCAA seed list, or that they are ahead of all of Iowa State, Baylor, and Duke. I think those teams are pretty tightly bunched.
