Good point, they had a poor start and looked like it may be another lost, forgettable season for that program. All about improving and playing your best now.

Didn’t know about league having to step in because of what GB was doing. I agree about Wicks.  Thought he seemed like a bit of an oddball.  But that was a dumpster fire too he took over and also made them more than competitive right away.  Will be interesting how he ends up doing there.

Both programs seem in pretty good hands, which has pretty much never been the case at the same time. I really have no doubt that Lundy is a very solid coach.

UWGB is saying that they had to juggle times due to the women's team, and that might be the case and it all might be an innocent mistake. And maybe Lundy just used it to fire up his team, but no idea why he would rant on after the game about it if that were the case.

Hmm, will have to poke into this.  Juicy little sidebar. Love it when coaches get on a good rant in postgame comments.

Bart Lundy and Milwaukee to Horizon semifinals on Monday to face Keeyan and No KY.  Happy for both of them.

Lundy can coach. Milwaukee is a very difficult job- almost no local fan base, indifferent alumni, mediocre at best facilities, shadow of MU, etc. He took over a dumpster fire and has made them instantly competitive.  Hope they win the tournament.

I know it’s a completely different talent level but they’ve got a kid who named BJ Freeman who has been filling up the stat sheet.
He’s 6’6, I haven’t seen him play, and I’m not sure what the advanced stats say but someone like that seems like a good fit to transfer up in the portal.

Domask is having a massive impact at Illinois this year so I wouldn’t discount someone like Freeman.
Not sure he has a BE body and maybe he’s not for higher end BE programs, but someone like DePaul should be all over a kid like that, and he should relish a move to a major conference if he really thinks he can play.

Sure they exist.  9 of the 113 brackets currently on bracket matrix have MU as a 3 seed.  Itll be a few more after the loss last night but not many.

In the end,  only the selection commitees matters

Of the 45 brackets on bracketmatrix that have been updated since the UConn game, 30 of them have MU as a 2, 15 have MU as a 3.  The most common team that bracketologists have replacing MU on the 2 line is Baylor.  Root for Texas Tech on Saturday.
I'll stick with my opinion on Gold.  He'll be in foul trouble within the first eight minutes.

Instantly competitive? The are 235th Kenpom, beat 1 win Detroit, and dumpster fire UWGB to get to the semis.

northern Kentucky, aside from keeyan, have another pretty decent player from eau Claire, wi. 6'8" forward LJ wells 8.5ppg /5.5 reb shooting 46.7% (40% from 3pt)

I did a game on radio Wells played in high school. Not surprised to see him having success at next level.

I'd argue on GB being a dumpster fire this year. They've had a decent season. May play in the CIT.

my buddy went to that game last night. Forwarded a few pics. Resch Center looks decent as an arena. I agree both GB and MKE are in a good place considering where they were just a season or two ago. I also think both Lundy and Wicks move up soon. Until then, another in state rivalry with some healthy hate is good!! 😊

It’s hard for me to think of a team that just went to the last minute to beat 1-31 Detroit Mercy to be “hot”.

But, the 2,3, and 4 seeds in the Horizon tournament are already out, so maybe UWM can claim the auto bid.

Will be interesting to see where this Temple story goes. Tonight wasn’t the only fishy line movement on a Temple game over the last month. I doubt their game this weekend is on any board.

Curious.  This doesn't make it sound bad...

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39684848/temple-review-reports-unusual-wagering-uab-game

The Athletic article that came out this afternoon went into detail about what I mentioned. Several games over the last month had wild spread and totals movement.

From the article:
On Feb. 8, Temple hosted Memphis. About four hours before the game, Memphis was favored by 6.5 points, according to BetQL, which tracks point spreads. By game time, so much money had been bet against Temple that the line had expanded to 10.5. Memphis won 84-77.

On Feb. 28, Temple hosted Rice. The game’s point total opened at 144 before being bet up to 145. Then, in the hours before the game, the total was bet down from 145 to 140.5 — an indication that bettors suddenly had reason to believe one or both teams would not score as much as oddsmakers expected. Additionally, after opening at 68, the first-half point total steadily dropped to 66.5 throughout the day — and over the two hours before game time, the total dropped quickly from 66.5 to 64. The score at halftime was 28-19 (47 points), and Temple won the game 65-43 (108 total points).

Then, on March 2, Temple hosted Tulsa. In a two-hour period before tip-off, the game’s betting line for total points dropped drastically from 144 to 136.5, again suggesting that bettors had reason to believe one or both teams would score less than expected. Additionally, the team’s first-half point total betting line dropped from 68.5 to 62.5 in that time period, including a precipitous fall from 66.5 to 62.5 in about a one-hour period. Tulsa led at halftime 32-23 (55 points) and won the game 72-67 (139 points).

Kentucky’s win at Tennessee might cost the Vols a 1 seed and brings UK into the conversation for a 3 seed.
