Herman is normally very bullish on our Warriors.  The year we return almost the entire roster he picks the team to be average? Is this reverse psychology on his part?  Were his predictions before the 77 championship the same and he is just following through with that mentality again?  Herm, Not sure I'm getting your thoughts here.  The schedule is really tough but I really hope if this is your legitimate prediction you are dead wrong.  No pun intended.

This year I would describe myself as Extraordinarily Enthusiastic and Excited for an Excellent season. Love the make up of the squad and how interconnected the team is. Feel we are definitely a Whole is greater than the sum of the parts type team.

However, I am not Bullish because I believe the non-conference schedule this year is incredibly challenging.  My sincere heartfelt desire is to be proven dead wrong and enjoy a delicious plate of crow. I figure there will be one unexpected bad loss this year  and have Notre Dame Sucks  picked for that . Again I hope that turns out to be moronic.

I do have the Guys performing well in Conference. However , I think the non-conference will limit the type of seed we may get in the tournament and make a deep run much tougher. Obviously hoping to be wrong on that as well.

You're right, 6-9 that in practice is actually 5-9.

Assuming Herman means that we beat Chaminade and lose to UCLA and not-Syracuse in the 5th place game, Herman has us going 2-12 in the 14 games that KenPom gives us a 65% chance or less of winning. And then on top of that, Herman has us losing at home to Notre Dame, a game we are currently a 95% favorite in. KenPom isn't everything, especially preseason, but c'mon.


Losing any one of those 14 games is possible. Losing 12 of them? No way. Losing 12 of them and losing to Notre Dame? To borrow from Muggsy, UNACCEPTABLE.

I understand the concern.  It's not that far from past MSU teams who scheduled too hard in the non conference season only to come on strong in the NCAA tournament.  Maybe it will be like you have predicted but instead with a final four at the end of the rainbow.  Who knows? Let's enjoy the ride!
