We do enforce the laws and incarcerate the violent lawbreakers. No Western democracy incarcerates  its citizens more - or longer - than we do. And yet our gun violence problems - and crime problems overall - far exceed theirs. It's clearly a failed strategy.

As for dads, I' don't doubt that would help some. But other countries have high rates of single-parent homes and not nearly the corresponding rates of violent crime.
And would you not agree that one major reason there are so many children without a father in their lives is because we lock up their fathers at extraordinary rates? You're advocating for contradictory positions here.

Maybe we should make it easier for there to be a parental presence in households and not make it so single parents must work multiple jobs to make ends meet. Or is your solution to possible abusive and violent situations "stay together for the kids". Reversing "fatherless households" sounds so easy the way you put it but the way of addressing their causes I assume are not what you want to hear.

I watched the debate from The Trade Hotel.  It was quite the scene down there.  A bunch of billboard trucks flying around with candidates left and right.  Felt like a watching a big game with cheers in the bar from boths sides...actually three sides bc Asa Hutchison is his own brand. Then you get the costume crowd.  I really enjoyed grown men dressed in 1776 garb, tricorn hats and all, railing on about the trans community.
