Attending Graduation 2023
« on: May 20, 2023, 08:33:40 AM »
My nephew graduates today.  MU limited the # of tickets to 4 per grad citing the unusually large class size.

Back in the Bradley Center days tickets were never an issue.  I’m the oldest of 6. My wife is the youngest of six. We both has siblings, aunts, uncle & grandparents.

Any idea why MU is limiting tickets this year?

I'd think they'd have plenty of capacity at Fiserv.

True, not all great seats, but you'd think they'd rather have families in the rafters (or SRO) than not be able to attend at all.

My conspiracy theory is Bucks / Fiserv being unreasonable.

The BC was great. The concessions would sell donuts / juice / coffee. It was a thing.

Bummer to miss this year’s.

This is nothing new, we only got 4 tickets per grad in 2015 and we were still at the Bradley center.

Meanwhile at TAMU, they just got rid of tickets for graduation.  It was ugly. From what I've been told,  hundreds of people got turned away. Some grads had 50 in attendance. Others had 0 and their families who traveled thousands of miles in some cases had to wait in the parking lot

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Looking at the FB page pic, it looks like they blocked off one side for the stage, so no one was seated back there. It is also apparent that the upper bowl had lots of empty seats. Undergrads also had the chance to get two additional tickets in April, it appears.
In addition, both President Lovell and Coach Smart took pictures with grads at Joan of Arc afterwards.

I attended.  The student speaker was weak.  Marlee Matlin used American Sign Language with an interpreter. She gave a heartfelt address. 1800+ undergrads.  Two hours and fifteen minutes.  Could shorten it up by not allowing each dean to blather before their college is introduced.

And the height of the heels that some of the gals wore is remarkable.  The National Anthem was sung.

Apparently it’s been Sunday the past few years. First time back at FiServ since the pandemic.

In my day you could bring all your grandparents to graduation and afterwards you got a pic with DiUlio & Deane at Hegarty’s.

Would have loved one with Al!

That would be highly revered in my house if I ever could have gotten one!

Marlee Matlin, actress.

Her son was Class of 2023.

Didn't go to my high-schools, didn't go to my university's, will not be going to my graduate.

It's a really big waste of time for everyone honestly.
