Paid for his hookers by check.

Uncle Rico

Juxtaposing him and Harry Belafonte in the same week says something about the values of America
Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another; do not oppress the widow, the orphan, the alien, or the poor; and do not devise evil in your hearts against one another.

Not an excellent article?

Just a pretty crazy career arc, but by all accounts a pretty nice guy

Warriors4ever

I heard an interview with him once. He was in fact very candid about his show and the direction it took, didn't try to sugarcoat anything or hem and haw or spin anything.
Nobody seemed to realize that he was actually still living in the Chicago area, which means he wasn't trying to draw attention to himself.

rocket surgeon

although i never watched his shows(RIP jerry) the clips of some of his stuff were almost MMA-like which may explain how he went neck and neck with oprah in late 90's ratings in certain demographics.

i've got to think the audiences were somewhat diametrically opposed, but then again... ?-( he did find a niche that others were either apparently unaware of or afraid to broach.  others never could achieve the same type of success or generate an interest with that sector.
