From Axios:

Six facts. No hyperbole. All in the past 60 days.

1. AI is the fastest-growing product category in world history.

2. One of the latest models is so powerful that its maker won't release it to the public.

3. OpenAI and Anthropic say their most powerful AI coding models are now building themselves.

4. AI companies are growing less transparent as models grow more powerful. The federal government requires zero transparency.

5. AI resentment is building fast. In early April, the San Francisco home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was the target of two attacks in the same week. Shaken, he wrote: "The fear and anxiety about AI is justified ... Power cannot be too concentrated."

6. AI havoc is no longer theoretical: This year's great software rout erased $2 trillion in value as investors realized, week by week, new human tasks that the latest models would wipe out, from coding to real estate services to legal research to financial management.

A year ago, we wrote a wake-up call to business leaders. This one is for everyone: We've been warned — by the data, by the technology, and by the people most responsible for building it — that we've unleashed something powerful, something growing exponentially, and something understood by very few, especially those in power.

We've no clue where this ends and the good or bad that might be unleashed along the way. No one does. But it's increasingly clear that absent better leadership, collaboration and understanding, American society, workers, academic institutions and government aren't remotely ready for what's unfolding.

We've been warned.

It wasn't. But that still made me chuckle.

I asked AI for 6 facts without hyperbole from the past 60 days, it was much more mundane, and actually left out the hyperbole!

QuoteSince today is April 29, 2026, here are six facts regarding developments in artificial intelligence from the past 60 days (March and April 2026):

* **White House AI Framework:** On March 20, 2026, the White House released the **National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence**. This framework addresses federal versus state tensions over AI regulation and provides guidance on the local impact of data center expansions.

* **Gemini 3.1 Pro Release:** In April 2026, Google shipped **Gemini 3.1 Pro**. Benchmarks indicate it leads in 13 of 16 major performance categories, achieving parity with OpenAI's GPT-5.4 Pro while operating at approximately one-third of the API cost.

* **Open-Source Agent Governance:** Microsoft released the **Agent Governance Toolkit** in April 2026. This is a seven-package open-source system available on GitHub designed to provide cryptographic identities and compliance automation for autonomous AI agents.

* **Hardware Advancements:** Huawei launched the **950PR AI chip** in early April 2026. The hardware is specifically optimized for inference workloads rather than model training, signaling a shift toward real-world deployment of large-scale models.

* **Topaz Labs "Next-Gen" Models:** On April 28, 2026, Topaz Labs released its largest single update, introducing six new AI models including **Wonder 3** and **Astra 2**. These models utilize "NeuroStream" technology, which reduces VRAM usage by **95%** to allow complex rendering on consumer-grade hardware.

* **Agentic Coding Tools:** In early April 2026, the coding interface **Cursor 3** was released. It introduced "agentic" features that allow the AI to execute multi-step coding tasks autonomously rather than just providing text-based suggestions.

We're doomed.

And that's not hyperbole.  8-)

I need to know how the plan to actually make money.  Their business (current subscription based) model is not even close to being remotely profitable. At some point banks will run out of money, and the VCs will want some return on their investments.  Not even mentioning the circle of 'investment' that is the entire sector.

Like, what's the plan?
