“Way too Early” 2024 Bracketology
« on: March 25, 2023, 09:09:06 AM »
Lunardi has MU as third #1 a three seed for NCAA tournament-
“Lunardi has the Wildcats as the top seed in the Midwest Region (Detroit), along with (2) Houston, (3) Marquette, and (4) Michigan. Lunardi's other teams on the top line include UConn (East), Kansas (South), and Arizona (West).”

So we got that going for us….

What a ridiculous prediction. MU will clearly be the #1 seed overall in '24! What a waste of energy.

Joe must think we are losing a lot of transfers. We'll see.

IF, MU keeps the team together I'd guess we are preseason top 3.

Doing an exercise like this before the season has even ended and the transfer portal has fully shaken out is really dumb, even by Lunardi’s lofty standards.

As of today, T rank projections for 2024:

1. UConn
2. Arizona
3. Marquette
4. Creighton
5. Houston

These will change as players turn pro, transfer out, and transfer in. But Marquette should be very good to elite.

So, a guy whose job it is generate clicks has done so and initiated a heated discussion on a message board.  Mission accomplished.

Why does T rank hate Marquette so much that they're already ranking 2 teams ahead of us for next season?

Lunardi has some in here as a clear troll/clickbait try, based on all the pissed off people I saw on Reddit on this post it worked. No way Michigan should be projected as a 4 seed based on them not even making the tourney and losing possibly their 3 best players.

Next seasons prognostications, at least from what I’ve seen on this board, will be the exact opposite of this seasons preseason prognostications.

Barring any surprise exits, many seem like they will be up in arms with anything outside a preseason top 10 ranking or projected top 2 seed.

In the way too early hold your horses department, let’s not forget those things don’t mean much until the ball is tipped.
We saw how much they meant this season.
Also, let’s not forget that this years team was very special, but that in no way guarantees next years team undoubtedly has to be just as special.

I know I know, that’s Ashley cole speak.

That said, it’s true. So, let’s not be up in arms with a preseason ranking inside the top 25 but not inside the top 5, because more than likely it’ll be somewhere in there.
Oh, and maybe it’ll be ok to have some hiccups during the season. That won’t mean they can’t run it back to a Final 4 next March/April.

Is it November yet?

I have no specific expectations about next season yet, V. I'll wait until we know who’s on the Warrior Eagles to go there. Right now all I'll say is that I trust that Shaka will field a highly competitive team.

Caveat emptor: Lunardi's 2023 "early" picks once had UNC and Kentucky as #1 seeds, and St. John's as a #10.

Seriously, they're going to be something like 500 portals transfers in the next several weeks. Teams are going to remake themselves by summer.

Today Joe Lunardi ESPN has Marquette as a #1 Seed in Indianapolis playing #16 Seed Iona. With Baylor as the 8Seed and Colorado as the 9Seed in the South Dallas Region
