A journey of a thousand miles...
« on: March 17, 2023, 03:49:15 PM »
1.  Kolek injured and out of sorts.  Winning without him carrying MU is huge.
2.  What was a foul in the Big East is not a foul in the tournament.
3.  Vermont is old and unimpressed.
4.  Then Kam happened.  Markus-like.  DJames against Valparaiso.
5.  Defense happened at the same time.
6.  Perhaps the flagrant 1 focused them.
7.  All that angst.
8.  In the end, Vermont was who we thought they were.
9.  Like I said, second half team.
10. .....starts with a single step

F’ crapty Vermont and f’ the prognosticators that predicted a Vermont win.  Marquette could have beat them by 30 with a normal Kolek game.

I expect Tyler to have a great game on Sunday.  The first half reminded me a bit of the St John’s game in the BET where they came out tight.  I expect the team to be much more focused on Sunday now that they got the first game out of the way.

Who would have thought 10 years of NCAA winlessness would end with walk-ons getting in for 90 seconds.

We got a great draw with playing Vermont. They didn’t look like they had the athletes to compete with us for 40 min.

Can’t believe it’s been a decade, after the game told my wife who is also an MU grad that I was getting emotional. We’re back and let’s all enjoy the ride now that we’re over the hump.

Game jitters and an injured/ not typical Kolek for first 25 minutes

Last 15 minutes was a Big East Team against an American West team. Great adjustments and Kam was like Earl the Pearl Monroe.

Pregame analysis of Vermont stats, pace of play, etc. didn’t matter. Vermont don’t play teams like this during season. Normal Kolek, made layups and win by close to 30.

Kudos to Ross and S. Jones, played great defense, especially Jones, who was a pest on that one guard who was hitting threes early.

No more jitters, out of system now,  Kolek get hand healed and bring on MSU.

Our long National Nightmare is over.

One down, five to go! What I liked best about today is that with Tyler hurt and out with fouls, our guys picked it up and Kam, Stevie and Oso took over. I won't say we didn't miss a beat -- hint, we did! But, we knew who we were and stepped up when it mattered.

Jop was wonderful in the first half!

It's on to Sparty and let's kick some BIG backside!

Didn't like the Oso iso offense and glad they moved away from it. It stagnated everything and we started to play at their tempo. Nice adjustment by Shaka there.

Thanks to Wojo for those 3651 days without a win.

Vermont was unimpressed by MU.  Right in it until Kam went off.

True. As you pointed out, they were an “old” team. Started 4 seniors and 1 grad student. I was worried that if they hung tight it would be tough at the end - then Kam happened!

We got the win . Most important thing .

Hopefully the medical report on Kolek is favorable. The look on his face after the injury was not good. Adrenaline can keep a kid on the court  through an injury . Lets pray our guy csn make it back for Sunday.

I noticed Izzo scouted us live , so expect Sparty to have some tricks up their sleeve .
