It sort of reminded me of Jimmy against Ty Holloway. Also against Xavier.

Tu.  But yes.

Yes, it was Gary Brell. I was just trying to have a little fun. I don't need to see the roster for that team to remember any of them.

The defensive job both Stevie Mitchell and Omax Prosper did on Saturday reminded me of another MU game many years ago. I know of at least one participant on this board who will remember the game very well.

In the winter of 1970, ND came to Milwaukee with a very good team led by a great player named Austin Carr.  I don't remember the specifics, but Carr was a really good offensive player and the ND offense revolved around him. Al had this skinny white guy guarding Carr (what was that guy's name?), and he did a fantastic job. MU got off to a great start, the skinny white guy held Carr to just a handful of points in the first half, and MU went into the locker room with a good lead. ND got untracked a bit in the second half, but it was too little too late and MU got a really nice win. It was Austin Carr's lowest scoring game of the season. (Wish I could remember the name of that guy guarding him.)

It's fun to watch great defensive efforts like that one from 1970 - and like the defense played Saturday night.
Carr was a great scorer. Think he averaged over 30ppg.

I believe that Austin Carr led the country in scoring that season, though not certain about that. But, on that particular night, Brell was like a wild man in the way he hounded Carr all over the floor.  It was really very similar to the way Mitchell hounded Boum on Saturday.

It is probably amazing to players that someone like me can, 50+ years later, recall one game and one player. I don't remember a single other thing about that game against ND except Brell's defensive work.  He worked so hard and so passionately that game that it somehow just stuck in my head. And, talking to my wife yesterday about Saturday's game and the great defense, I found myself suddenly telling her about Gary Brell and the ND game long ago. The memory just came back out of nowhere.

The guys on this team do not realize the memories they are creating for fans of all ages.
