A friend ,who is a staunch UCONN fan( season tickets,BET, travels ) visited the FISERV this year
He came away impressed by the kind treatment and comradery he experienced at the game. He was even more amazed when he walked over to the Bars after the game and Marquette fans wanted to buy him a beer.
He said nowhere else in the BE has he experienced this congeniality. At Providence this year he(70) was
challenged to a fight by a guy in his 50s because he was cheering for the Huskies. You fans have made a
huge impression on him  Stay Classy Milwaukee

Yeah, we're great to fans of other programs. Among ourselves, it's a never-ending pissing contest about who is the biggest fan and whose expectations are the lowest.

I'm surrounded by UCONN fans and they are always complementory.

Taking the high road is generally a safe bet!  Way to go MU rah rah!

MUfan12

Yeah, we're not a fanbase that's too antagonistic to visiting fans for the most part. If they're cool about it then there's rarely a problem. Occasionally you'll get some from say, Omaha for example, that stray from that.

Hope he never visits Scoop!

I am and mine are not.

I traveled to Omaha 2 weeks ago for the MU-Creighton game. Literally everyone who saw us in the bars for 3 days wearing Marquette gear wanted to come up and talk Big East and MU basketball. Very nice, really knowledgeable fans ( and it didn't hurt that MU was in 1st place and had won the game earlier in MIlwaukee).

So what you're saying is I shouldn't get into any shouting matches with UConn fans this weekend.

I never had any trouble at the RAC or the Rock when MU played Rutgers or Seton Hall. Perhaps the UCONN/Providence rivalry is more akin to MU/UW.  Did MU fans buy UW Madison fans a beer after our 3pt overtime loss this year? Look at all the flack the Mecca took for hosting a Badger pregame rally. Maybe we are not as classy as we would like to think we are.

OK, I know I live a thousand miles away and don't understand how insufferable Bucky fans are.

Visited X this season and the cops threatened to arrest me (good naturedly).  Same vibe as other BE schools, sans PC who are the only couch burners. Folks just happy for a basketball first conference and the quality of the conference, realizing they better we do, the better all the teams do.

I love Hurley a few weeks ago and the question was if UCONN is underrated and his answer was the conference is underrated.

You have no clue.

And they are not our conference brethren.

Seton hall and Syracuse fans seem to be the most confrontational.

I'd tell you about all my unpleasant interactions with DePaul fans, but I've never actually met one.

Rob Dauster said on his podcast yesterday that he envisions tons of UConn fans traveling to NYC on the train & pounding drinks all the way down.

They're going to be well-lubricated by mid-day on Thursday (probably the same story with lots of Providence fans).

We're all just amazed they chose to visit Milwaukee in February.  We're thankful for the tourism dollars.  I bet the fights picked is specifically concentrated among UW & DePaul fans.

Never had that experience and went to every MU/Hall game.

Love this! This made me think of my most pleasant/least pleasant fan interactions:

Worst to Best:

1. Notre Dame: At South Bend this year, a ~60 year old man cursed at me because I would stand to clap when we made a big play (I would stand for approx 5 seconds and sit back down). He then proceeded to grab a ~12 year old MU fan behind me by the shirt for standing. I heard a lot of other stories like that from other people throughout the arena
2. Wisconsin: Incredibly annoying as well. Act similar to Notre Dame fans, but a level down
3. St. Bonaventure: Loud and Obnoxious
4. Maryland: Very passionate fanbase and not afraid to jaw at the players and opposing fanbase
5. Syracuse: Only time I have ever been given the middle finger at a game (this was back in the old Big East days)
6. WVU: Not incredibly nice, but not mean either.
7. Indiana: Most passionate fanbase I've ever encountered. Hilarious that they will still complain/destroy the refs when they are up 20+ with 2 minutes left in the game...They treated us very well though when we were the only MU fans in a sea of red
8. Butler: Love going to games at Hinkle with my wife + kids. That says it all.
9. Purdue: Extremely nice fanbase and knowledgeable
10. Ole Miss: Not many of them, but are the "buy you a beer at the bar" type of people. Stayed at their team hotel in Charleston.

Sat next to a DePaul lady on the hotel bus to the DePaul-MU game.  She smiled and apologized for being a DePaul fan and explained she had two kids go to Marquette but felt an obligation to show up expecting the worse

We R Final Four

Ive never had a issue with anyone besides Badger fans.......until this year.

Most scoopers seem to love Butler......but this year at NMD there were 3 separate groups of very drunk Butler fans yelling and obnoxious.
So much that an older MU man (late 60s) yelled at 2 of them to SHUT UP! For about 30 seconds. He must had said it 5 times. He wanted to kill them. I thought it might get ugly.

I had a group of a half dozen Bulldog fans behind me at NMD. Loyal, knowledgeable and realistic about Butler basketball. Fun to speak with, polite and respectful and made the game more interesting.

All in all, good people to watch a game with.
