My overall point is that when Scholl retires, they should be in a great place to hire a competent athletic director from another institution. IMO you have an alumnus at Loyola Marymount who is very highly regarded, with a great background at multiple institutions.

I do agree on Pintens.  He's the first phone call.

Let's recalibrate.  Maybe TC gets a Jack Harbaugh role.  Look I'm no TC fan but he could be an asset in a development role setting.

I think you might be right there too.

Crean brought a final four, and his associated success brought in the final four million to get the Al done.  His final four team is still very tight with him.

That said, he LIED to FR. Wild about leaving MU.  You don't do that....and get to come back as THE executive for that institution.  It's also problematic that the staff had zero respect for him as a leader back in the day. When he was at the F4 celebration this year, many AD staff had unpleasant flashbacks.

Head coaches are quirky. Al was, Crean, Buzz, and Shaka too.  When you get a good mix of quirkiness and self awareness, you get Al and Shaka.  When you don't.......you get Buzz and Crean.

Do I believe he's reflected, and tried to repent...yes.  I suspect his failures might have humbled him a bit (the perma tan might say otherwise).  Does that get him a shot at executive leadership here....hell no.

Buzz was here for 8 years, Crean 9.  A little soon to put Shaka in Al's category.

Maybe including his time as an assistant coach. But...'13-14' should not count because he checked out while still collecting his salary.

After having a thread locked down last week over your post over the dentists, I seriously cannot believe you would double down on the "dentist". Frickin joke.

He really stunted John Dawson's growth by checking out

He really stunted the team's growth by playing Derrick Wilson 30+  and then your boy wonder Wojo followed suit the next year!!  Epic coaching failures.  At least Buzz's was intentional.

Ya....I could tell very early that year that Jamil and Davante were not ready to play.  I also think Davante lost track/interest in his weight and threw down pizzas, burgers, and a plethora of fast food.

Other than Elonmusk ("was intentional"), where did anyone say anything about Buzz "losing on purpose"? I said he "checked out" and I believe others agreed in so many words. Huge difference between the two.

In 2014 we lost 4 games on OT, the last two in 2OT.  We didn't exactly roll over.

Yea, I think there's a bit of revisionist history on that year. We were 9-9 in the Big East. I remember not having a great non-conference.

Buzz was playing Derrick because he felt Derrick was the best option.  The idea that he was mailing it in is laughable.  TAMU is spot on - Buzz doesn't do that.

As Lens and cheebs pointed out, they lost a ton of close games. Furthermore, Buzz put together an incomplete team. Granted, he wasn't expecting Vander to leave, but Steve Taylor, Juan Anderson and Todd Mayo were all replacement level players who needed to step up - and they just didn't.  So you end up playing Jake Thomas 30 minutes a game.

Buzz was tanking for a higher pick of his job! Guys it's obvious why else would we miraculously lose? Roster mismanagement? LOL!!!! That's some COLE stuff
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!
