Al McGuire, 1977.

This was my chance in a Scoop thread to add the notation I've been adding in some of my MU b-ball chats over the years.

Man this team is fun. Let's keep winning, alright?

Rewatching a bit of the game and McDermott can just be a big dumb idiot at times. I mean there’s 3 minutes to go in the game, Marquette hasn’t scored in 5 minutes, his team is on a 7-0 run, and he does hack-an-oso with 3 minutes left in the game. I’m not sure the exact percentages, but Oso has shot FTs much better in the second half of the season. So glad Oso made him pay for that stupid mistake. I mean Mac was repeatedly outcoached by Wojo..

In the same way the refs were smart enough not to call a T on McDermott at the end, they were smart enough not to call a foul on Kam at the end.
This!   McDermott was screaming Bull Shi…. Multiple times at the ref, should have been T’d up.  Agree with the above assessment!

What a f***ing win. Went into a hostile sold out crowd, played, and outmatched a legitimate top 15 team (when Kalky is healthy). This teams has nuts.

Good call - Creighton fans seem very much like Badger fans...

I agree. I thought as much the first year. For as good as Dougie McBuckets was that teamed flopped like Brad Davison was coaching them. I feel they are the Wisconsin of the Big East.

By any chance, are the team trainers secretly putting Crisco on the soles of Omax's shoes?

That Omax flop was a bit excessive. I actually was not impressed with him tonight.

We won probably the 2nd hardest true road game of the year with:

2 bench points

28% 3pt shooting

60% FT shooting.

That's amazing. The ceiling for this team is a NC.

Shaka earned every cent MU pays him this season tonight alone.
Pay him more. And pay Kolek whatever he wants.

For me, that was MU's best win since we beat Miami in the Sweet 16, so the best win in just shy of 10 years.

Of the many mental realignments I have had to make this year, the biggest may be going in to halftime.  Here, down 8, and I am concerned, but still have hope.  Makes watching this team so much more fun when you have confidence that they can adjust, regroup, and pull out games even when they don't start well.

Was able to make it to the game tonight and have to say it is a great atmosphere.  Very loud (expect for the first 15 minutes of the 2H).

Will also say Creighton fans are as whiny as Madison fans.  They were losing their minds at the end and were even throwing crap on the court.

Great to go into a hostile environment and stick it to them.

Tell that to duanewade and half of Scoop complaining about Oso and Omax during the first half. How many fouls that were called against us that we did not like. We have some whiners here too, me included.

That second half looked like the January MU that we knew and loved.  The turning defense to offense, the cutting, Oso acting as the pivot man with beautiful assists Wow it was great to see that MU team reimerge.   And in one of the toughest situations they've faced.  Love being in 1st place with a clear path to conference title but love even more that maybe we've got out MOJO back

Oso started hitting those hook shots.

The difference in Oso's aggressiveness when Kalkbrenner was on the floor vs when he was off was night and day.

I agree..feel like we got bailed out a little on the call on the inbound play to Kam...that was a pretty minor/tick-tack foul they called on Nembhard, and then it was possible an official could have called Kam for a foul on Scheireman's last second heave.  Brutal play there..gotta be smarter.

We had some dumb fouls/plays tonight, yet still won.
Kam was grabbed before the inbounds pass, and I figured that is what they called, but they let time run off the clock, so it wasn't.  I don't think the foul they called was right, but I thought he was fouled.

Gritty road win - great effort by the guys. Even though OMax couldn't stay on his feet, those were hustle errors, which I'll take.

O-Max has always been the opposite of sure-footed, but he seems to have been particularly bad the past few weeks.  At this point, I do not like the ball in his hands in big spots at all.  If he could just get back to where he was in early January, we are going to be a tough out.

OMax cost us at least 8 points with careless ball handling or bad footwork.

I honestly worry that he is going to hurt himself. One of these times he's going to land wrong when he hits the ground.

I heard the Creighton fans threw things at the Marquette players as they left the floor after the game.   McDermott had to go into the MU locker room to apologize.  I guess they did the same thing to Villinova.  Evidently, the nicest fans in America only applies to Nebraska Football fans.  Creighton is becoming my most hated fan base in the Big East.
