Must have met you 2 at some point.
9th floor McCormick freshman year, 4th Floor McCormick Soph (planned that so our "gang of 8" could have rooms side by side.  Then Pentaire Apartments (ugh) junior year, then St. James Court first Floor Party Apartment Senior year.

St James Court seems like an interesting decision.  Most go west, why did you go east and did you like it?

How is this unfortunate?  You make more money, the money you made before is still taxed at the same rate, and only the new money you've added is taxed at the higher rate.  It's not like you make an extra $1000, it bumps you into a higher bracket, and then ALL of your earnings are taxed at a higher rate.

(I teach HS Econ and this is a concept many of my students just don't understand)

You may wish to teach your students about inflation pushing salaries up to higher tax brackets. Yes you earn more but less valuable dollars over time that are tax incrementally at a higher tax rate.

More dollars are alone meaningless. Unfortunately dollar earnings are higher but buying power is generally in decline. Greater buying power after taxes and inflation is what we wish to achieve. Oh, and by the way, inflation rates calculations have changed over the years so that inflation numbers can under estimate the actual numbers.

64.  One year of Al and the next three with Hank.  Closed the Gym more times than I can remember,  but  if I didn't close the Gym it was O'Ds.

I wish every grad had the opportunity to camp out for season tickets.  Always a fun week!

Used to frequent a place up Wells St called Mike's Talk of the Town for pitchers of gin and tonic!

i managed the "talk of the town" my year and a half before going into dental school.  wasn't very popular among MU students.  had 2 record players we would play spin tunes in between shakes of bar dice with patrons.  the owner expected us to "sacrifice" our livers for the business and we happily obliged.  don't know how we did it, but drank until closing time, then hit the after hours parties and living to talk about it

I lived in McCormick 1004 freshman year (86-87). It was a "Study Floor." I did so much "studying" I ended up on academic probation. Had to meet with the Dean Sharon Murphy who told me I was destined for a career in mediocrity.

7th Floor Schroeder sophomore year. The Dog House (1416 W. Kilbourn) junior year. Lived on 17th between Wells and Kilbourn senior year.

Same roommate all 4 years (with a few additions).

Definitely the Halcyon Days.

I did not want to burst The Lens bubble. Four kids, 28-36 and all on the payroll to various degrees.
Mine are early 30's since they were 27 they keep asking me if I need any money....

I spent enough time at Jim Hegartys in the late 70's that I thought about having my mail forwarded there.

i had to have met you richard.  i tended bar at heg's 78-80ish, then managed the apartment bldg 82-86.  ohhhh, the stories

remember paul h.?  jim used to give me this puffy envelope to give to him about once per month

remember tim c.?  tim s.? jimmy s.?  big paul and his drunk sister,  kelly the taxi cab driver,  and on & on...as al would say, get your degree, then spend 6 mos as a bartender, 6 mos as a taxi cab driver.  well, he was right, i did a lot of "growing up and learning" at heg's while getting my degree

The Lens

I've learned I needed to be born into the Tap or Goose Fam. Where the pension vests at 22 and never runs dry.

Darn 5 siblings and pops in non profit, all I  got was an MU education  ;)

After the clues you provided, yes, you know me and I know you. But I've been anonymous here and on Dodds' Board forever, and for the time being I'm going to keep it that way. Do you stay in touch with R.R. and can he still hit a softball a mile??

54, did the 5 year plan with 3 years of Dukiet and 2 years of KO.  Missed the drinking age each time it went up, but still had a great 18th birthday at Hegartys, had a beer at the Gym every night of my super-senior year (except Sundays - Ardmore).

The Dukiet years were so bad that a good 5 at the rec center could beat the MU starters (minus of course Tony Smith who would never play there).  btw, Tony Smith deserved better than Dukiet and the teammates he ended up with.

4 years of Hank

Frequented:
The Gym
FV Grunts
Ardmore
Lanche
Green Tree
Good Time Charlies (sp?)
Wales on Wells
Suburpia
Cousins
Real Chili
Angelos

There, but typically avoided:
Circle

4 years of Hank for me, too. As a head coach, he was a great assistant (and a good guy)! Highlights were Rivers' shot against ND and our take-down of Duke (Gminski, Banks, etc) at the Dane County Coliseum.

Frequented most of the same places you did, but also Harp & Shamrock, Midget Tavern, State House (my best friend tended bar there), Kiernans and Hegartys.

Man, was college effen fun!

Started dating my eventual wife my senior year (her junior year). And like Goose and a couple others here, I was a youngish dad -- 2nd kid born just after I turned 27. Now I get to be the young, cool grandpa! (Or at least young-adjacent and cool in my own mind.)

37. Been going to games since '88-89, have had season tickets since I graduated in '07.

Trying to get my kids into it, but I'm realizing that I was the exception to the rule in terms of getting totally sucked into hoops at that young of an age.
