21-6, 13-3.

When things don't go your way, you need your EGBs to carry you to a history making win.

Marquette won tonight by utilizing its weakest strength, it dominated Xavier on the offensive glass.

The crowd was ELECTRIC. Just amazing stuff inside the FiServ.
The team was resilient. Resiliency wins Championships.

If you take a quick look at the BE standings you see that one team has a tier to itself, and it earned that tier.

Work to be done for sure, offensively haven't been as crisp of late.
That said, next week in Omaha is house BE title money.

Great night for Marquette basketball.

WE ARE, MARQUETTE

Agreed DoctorV

I was looking at the splits, we shot 38% from the field (X with 52%) 22% from deep (X: 36%) and shot 7% worse from the free throw line... and still came out with a win.

Rebounding was essential like you said, tons of second and third efforts on the offensive glass (by steve and oso in particular) was awesome to see.

The sheer will of this team to keep competing even when the chips are down is something that I haven't seen in Marquette basketball in years.

Also like you said, offense looks a little dull right now. I'm hoping this week break gives us time to sharpen up and try to steal one in Omaha.

Lets go win the Big East!!!

0h yes! . But at the beginning of the second half, it was absolutely beautiful as we had an 8-0 run. It was nice while it lasted.

I love that this team has embodied Shaka'S spirit. It's so startling when Wojo was completely unable to translate who he was as a player to his teams.

Not only that, but Shaka knew what the score was near the end of the game.

Hahaha yeah that got me a little excited too. Weirdly and thankfully offensive boards were a strength tonight which made up for the terrible shooting.

Old school win. The Shaka era has a home signature win. IMO, that was a game they probably should have lost, but won. Time to keep it going.

Glad to hear that the crowd was electric.  As some Scoopers noted, it sounded a bit dead on tv.  We discussed this before with CBSSN...they seem to mute the crowd noise in their broadcasts.

It was a great crowd. Crowd willed them back into in the first half. Was hard for crowd to get going when missing so many shots.

They must have. Atmosphere was next level.

We had to will some folks in the lower bowl into it during the second half, but by the 5:00 minute mark everyone around me was standing. It was great to see.

Crowd was pretty good for a game where there wasn't much offense.  It got loud at times, but was eerily quiet in the last few minutes when X was shooting free throws, and running offense.  I think everyone had the same sinking feeling I had.

I told my son, 'we are in trouble', down 3 with X in possession of the ball.  Then Stevie absolutely stole Boum's lunch money right in front of the X bench, and we were back in it.
