Upcoming Holiday Tournaments
« on: February 11, 2023, 07:01:10 AM »
MU is obviously playing in Maui this November, but have there been any announcements/rumblings of upcoming events beyond 2023? Have I just missed announcements? I’m assuming the Orlando tournament would be a possible destination in 2024 or 2025.

Go Marquette!!

Think this is a one off, not a tournament.

Yeah, we aren't listed in the Battle 4 Atlantis field.

It looks to be over Thanksgiving though.

Atlantis vs Georgia

Atlantis should win that matchup.
They got that Poseidon kid coming in next year.

Great effort by the admin to get us a unique game over the holidays. I’m sure the team will be looking forward to this trip. Just wish they could have gotten at least 2 games down there.

I wonder if we will still do the homegrown MTE. Nice to have multiple games count under that format.

Of course. Gets us to 31.

This might be it for the MTE. Seems like a Gap year for them. MU was frontloaded with them in this last cycle.

Not sure what this means. I'm pretty sure we can do an MTE every year.

If anything, this confirms it. Now next year we will likely have the following:

  • Wisconsin (H)
  • Big 12 Battle game (Likely A)
  • Georgia (N)
  • Purdue (Likely A, alluded to by Broeker)
  • 3-game home MTE
The question will be what follows that. Possibly another home-and-home, beginning at home? Maybe another challenge, possibly the ACC or (unlikely but maybe) Mountain West? Probably another 2-3 buy games, though my guess is the MTE will be effectively buy games.

We’re playing Purdue again? WTF! That’s  annoying, would like to play someone new. Also, where did you see that?

Broeker tweeted they were in conversations for that series after the Maui Invitational. Don't know that it's finalized yet, but it's the only word we've got of a likely home-and-home.

Wouldn't it be interesting to have a home-home series with Gonzaga?

And, as I've said in the past, I fantasize about a home-home with UMass (15 minutes from my own home).

Looking forward to our Big 12 A game against UCF. We don’t fear the frond!

Disagree.  Purdue is the perfect team for ours to learn against in the early season.

They’re too far away. Impossible to do.
