During the game, I was thinking about how .. every season, every team .. seems to lose a game they're supposed to win.   For 34 minutes, it sure seemed like tonight was the night.

So .. Butler?  @Gtown?  DePaul? @Butler? @STJ?

100% at Butler.

We already played and won at St. John’s so I’m going to assume we’re in good shape for that one.

This was the most grueling 9 point win I’ve seen this year.  They really stepped up the defensive intensity down the stretch.

This is what good teams do.  Now let’s blow Butler out of the building!

It's nice to sweep Nova
It's weird to face a Nova team that turns the ball over and fouls with abandon.

Kolek has been playing outstanding lately and I hope he stays for two more years.

When Joplin took that terrible shot inside with MU up three and then got a defensive stop, I have never seen a player (Kolek) bark at a teammate like he did, all the while dribbling up the court in a three point game and a minute to go. Kolek then made a critical basket after the berating of Joplin.  Leadership skills and I am sure Joplin learned a lesson.

For the record.. after he yelled at Joplin he missed his next shot off the front iron. It was the following position when he made a nice basket off the glass.

The Nova missed dunk at the end was poetic.

100% at Butler.

I think you're wrong this time, Dish. Butler's really bad, and we're really good. And I'm going to that one, so I sure hope you're wrong.

1.  MU had less action going to the basket than any game I can remember this year.  And Nova doesn't block shots.
2.  A whole lot of possessions without paint touches.
3. MU's defense forced a lot of turnovers.  Probably saved the game
4.  OMax, OMG.   Missed you tonight.
5.  Was amused by Shaka speak for 'play harder.' (under 8 timeout)  Hey, it worked.
6.  I was also amused by Stevie talking to the Nova bench.  Stevie?   A couple of stellar defensive plays during the late run.
7.  Rumors of Kam's demise were greatly exaggerated.
8. TKo wants the ball.
9.  Just a weird, no flow grind.
10.  But an ugly win is far better than a loss.

Yeah - Isn't it amazing how a respected Coach can get more from his players?  Fantastic response to his coaching - raising the level of violence, and making them feel us, and respond to us.  Slightly different that "Fight."  Compete. Compete. Compete.

Defense the last 6 minutes was elite, lets see it for 40.
I'll stick with my opinion on Gold.  He'll be in foul trouble within the first eight minutes.

...and he wasn't hoarse yelling at his players; rather intense but calm and low key.

tower threw out the bait, and you were only too willing to obsess bite.

Of course, you're right, too. Shaka had a strong game tonight, and the team followed his lead. I like these kinds of gutsy wins. I'll happily take another 17 of them! Our backcourt of TK, Kam and Stevie really got it done. Such a fun team to watch.

They don’t usually turn it over.
They don't usually commit 20 fouls either. Which is why it was weird.
