FRY January sounds WAY better than DRY January, just sayin.

Hahaha just trading one vice for another!
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

Why in God's Green Earth would anyone in the Midwest give up drinking in the coldest, darkest month? With football playoffs and hoops in full swing?  Otherwise load up on the vitamin D and pull out the sun-downer lamps.

Do anti-inflammatory January at least to keep the sugars and gluten down to lose weight. Titos with Club, Bloody Mary.

That is a very good question. If I had heard of damp January before proclaiming my efforts on dry January that would have been my call. Kind of thinking of transitioning to damp for the second half of the month. That said, missing the game last night to avoid being tempted might keep my motivation on the goal.

This thread got me thinking of this brilliant little bit of marketing.

Some of us went a little too hard in Nov-->Dec while also on NSAIDs due to an injury and our doc told us to cool it.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I skipped the game last night because of Dry January and it sucked. Bad enough not drinking but missing the game made it worse. Thinking about giving myself the day off on Sunday at hitting Goolsby's.

Dry January?  Are you a commie?

Can people really not go to a bar (and especially a sports arena) and not have a drink?  Especially a bar where you can get good food?  Go and drink some cranberry juice for goodness sake.

Some can. Some can't.
Some it's easy. Some it's hard.

Don't judge others for goodness sake.

Well we've identified the non MU alum on the board.

Long line of really, really dumb things that bias has posted.

For those looking for a N/A option you can't beat Lagunitas Hop Water. I drink it even on non dry out periods. Has anyone tried any of the zero proof spirits? Curious how real they taste.

My wife and I are expecting so we picked up a few bottles around the holidays so she could have mocktails. Two different types of gin-type spirits. They taste like flat tonic water without the quinine. But the illusion is the important part.

OTOH, N/A beers have come a long way in the 7 years since our last kid and are now pretty delicious.

Withoutbias seems like a strange handle for that poster. More times than not he likes to believe he is better or smarter than other folks.

I appreciate your post because dry January is a challenge for me and trying to tackle it. Not going to the game last night was tough, but wanted to avoid the temptation.

withoutbias

I guess my point is that if you can't be around alcohol without giving in to the temptation to drink alcohol for even a single night, you should probably be doing dry January, dry February, dry March, dry April, dry May, dry June, dry July, dry August, dry September, dry October, dry November, and dry December.

I did not ask for your opinion or solicit any judgement call from you. Thankfully, my personal experiences show that people that I care about are supportive and encouraging.

Same applies to you but substitute "dry" with "don't be an asshōle".

I truthfully cannot believe anyone would make a comment like bias made to a complete stranger. Sadly, he will have a handful of supporters cheering him on, which is par for the course around here.

sounding kind of biassed to me against those who want to celebrate an accomplishment or sticking to a new years resolution that isn't like giving up potato chips or watching cnn  you may want to change the name to...well i'm going to stop there

I feel like fireball alone makes most people not want to drink.
