Possibly Hush Puppies shoes?   Get your feet/shoes/Hush Puppies/puppies organized.

Well here is a piece I found
" How did the word 'dogs' come to mean 'feet'? In 1913, a journalist for the New York Evening, by the name of "T.A. Dorgan", was well known for rhyming slang, published the word 'dogs' as a citation for his feet. From that point forward the word 'dogs', has been used as slang for feet. So now, a century later, after a long hard day on our feet we may say, "My dogs are barking!", in reference to 'our feet are killing us"

So not a far stretch from dogs to puppies!

I think it refers to a bra.

I think all announcers hate every team I cheer for and I complain a lot about them on social media, to friends and family.

Yo, what's your twitter handle?  I want to follow you.  Are you on reddit and farmersonly.com too?

I think the most likely explanation for this is that the announcers are pretty regional and probably called other SJU games.

I recall being pretty put-off by the Providence announcers and how much they seemed to favor Providence (even my daughter noticed and commented). Then at our next home game, I noticed that the announcers seemed pretty pro-MU. It seems that FS1 announcers tend to be more familiar with the home team, but maybe I'm wrong about that.

Gillen is absolutely terrible. He's the only guy I actively dislike.

Dickey is bad but at least he doesn't take himself seriously and knows he's over the top.

I'm pretty sure that's it, since he uses it to means get your feet settled before making a move.

Boy did he stink when he played for the Giants. Goes to the Packers and becomes a good/relatively phenomenal running back. It showed me that a running back is only as good as his offensive line.

Like a lot of Lombardi's guys, Chuck was very successful after football. Yale graduate and a Wall Street guy.
On the Packers famous last 68 yard drive in the Ice Bowl, Mercein gained 34 yards rushing and receiving.

We are lucky we are living at a time when almost every Marquette game is accessible everywhere in the U.S. with a standard cable subscription (Spectrum and others).  If it weren't for Al McGuire in the 1970's and his connections to TVS, those outside of Milwaukee TV coverage would have never seen Marquette.  I was lucky to see 3 or 4 national games because of Marquette's presence at that time, so I will never complain about TV coverage.  If you don't like the announcers, mute them.

Hm, interesting line of thinking and I agree we're lucky to live in such times for this reason.

However! The broadcasting companies and universities are lucky to exist in a world where they can provide their product to a national audience so easily.  After all, they're the ones making $$ off of the fans and advertisers.  If they want to compete and keep as many viewers and fans as they can, they should provide the best product they can (given various constraints).

It's a two way street here!  The only tool I have in my arsenal to affect change is to whine about it online.  At least that's all I feel I can do... because other than turning the game off, I don't feel I have much recourse.

EVERY SINGLE GAME IS ON TV.  This is the cost.

I'll pay the cost to see EVERY SINGLE GAME ON TV.

I love the fact that I can watch nearly every game.  When I was at MU during the  Dukiet/O'Neill era, we were on national tv once or twice a season.  I would rather see the games with bad announcers than not see the games at all, obviously.

My point was that I'd rather have crew's like Enberg/McGuire/Packer or Verne/Raftery calling our games than last night's crew.

I remember when the ESPN or network broadcast would begin, and the BC would flash it on the jumbotron so the students could start yelling.  Deane days.

I'm the same era as you. For quite a few years I was only able to see maybe 3-5 games per year.

First game all year Sarah Kostak has worked.

Last night was Dave Simms 3rd game. He did a game at St. John's and at Providence. Simms have two more this week.

Tom McCarthy, Steve Lappas was a CBSSN did for MU/PC.

I think announcer voice just rise with the roar of the home crowd if anything.

It is very predictable that when women call or commentate on our games, a thread like this begins.

Get used to it, gang. As women become more prominent in sports, more and more women will be involved in broadcasting our games. It's coming and there's a lot more behind Beth Mowins, Sarah Kustok, Doris Burke and others.

Heck, in college football, Heather Dinich is one of the best commentators/reporters in the country!

Yep. And let's not stoop to calling women stuff like "the hottie." Really a poor look.

Agree on all of it.

Can't believe we're living in the land of F 452/1984/Animal Farm/Brave New World/Handmaid's Tale. When travel to Mars begins, expect Starship Troopers

Most of the criticism was leveled at the play by play guy in this thread. He repeatedly got names wrong, described plays wrong.

So, it is interesting that it is perfectly okay to criticize a male, but not a woman.

BTW, Doris Burke and Beth Mowins are among the best in the business. All announcers, male and female should rightfully be able to be compared to them.
