America’s best golf property is getting better in 2024.  This beaut is expected to be the toughest 18 on the property

Do you know if Sand Valley and Cabot are the same people?  If you haven't been to Cabot Cliffs and NS I'd highly recommend it.  I thought there was some connection.

That’s Bandon Dunes.  That’s on the 2024 agenda

I did Bandon this year. It was awesome. I went final four weekend (last weekend of March/first weekend of April) to save some money and so the weather was, I’ll say decent. It was high 40s/low 50s the whole time and really the only time it was raining sideways and howling wind was when we played sheep ranch. I still played well enough to have my opponents quit after 12 holes but I finished with the group behind us. One of the caddies said top 5 worst conditions he’s been in.

Other than that round we lucked out big time. The courses were beautiful, lodging worked out perfectly, and everyone had a blast. There were 16 of us. This is how I ranked the courses. Also, I’m currently a 10.5 handicap and these were my scores.

Bandon dunes- 82
Bandon trails- 84
Pacific dunes- 90
Old McDonald- 86
Sheep ranch- probably low 90s. Weather was brutal and I didn’t add them up

Also, flew into Eugene, spent then night there, and took Byron’s old caddies bus company there and back. Highly recommend. It was very smooth

Great trip. Hope you guys enjoy it also

Played Harbortown last week. Beautiful course, but wouldn't put it as worth the price of admission. I'd rather jump on Heron Point if I really wanted to play a Pete Dye while on Hilton Head Island.

I just signed up for the same “event” at Bandon in ‘24. Trying to decide whether to fly into Eugene or get to San Francisco and take the flight (I think there one a day) that gets you to the small airport near Bandon. Was leaning to the latter but you make it sound pretty easy going through Eugene - thanks for the tip.

The shuttle services are supposed to be top notch for Bandon.  I thought of going to the US AM in ‘20 and read a lot of positive things about the services

Flying into Eugene and taking the shuttle was super easy. We stayed at this really cool hotel called the graduate- pretty much all Nike and Oregon themed. We arrived early evening 4-5pm so got to check out the town, hit the pot shop, have dinner, then go to a couple a bars which was fun. Oregon was on spring break which was fine, kinda would’ve liked more action though.

The shuttle was sweet. They had it fully stocked with booze so we got a nice buzz and they stopped at a store for us to load up on the way. Once we got there we played the par 3 and then Old Mac and then the next two days were 36 each.

I would absolutely do the Eugene/shuttle route if I went again

The Trent Jones Ocean Course at Palmetto Dunes is a great track as well.

One more question - did you use a caddy on all of the courses? How helpful/necessary was it?

Thanks in advance.

Muggys favorite golfer, DeCharcuterie, shoots a 58 to win LIV

Do we count this Herman?  I'm not sure we can.

How does it not count?  He shot a 58 in a professional tournament at a course that used to host PGA events and at a club that hosted a Ryder Cup.  Not like he played some joke course with special rules.  A 58 in a tournament is insane and taking anything away from it cause you don’t like the guy and its on the LIV tour is silly.

Does this mean he's on the Ryder Cup team?
