I don't care for all these Marquette blowouts. Sign of an inconsistent team. Back in the Wojo era this team played COMPETITIVE games.

Does anyone else hyperventilate when Joplin dribbles in the open court?

Let's run it up for sure, but this game has been over for eight minutes.

Another game where Marquette is victim of horrible officiating in their opponent's favor.

STOP CALLING OFF THE DOGS

Jesus we suck so bad late in games.

If its close, we lose the game.

If its a blowout, we lose about 8 pts towards NET.

This is embarrassing right now. PUt in the bench and completely took the air out of the ball. The BE sucks this year we have to blow out trash at home.

Agreed, but this game was never in doubt.

The one thing I really dislike about Shaka is how early he puts his subs in towards the end of games.

It’s happened multiple times this year where a 20+ point lead comes back down to 8-10 point wins.

And they get penalized for it by the stupid NET.

Offense is 100 times better when we don’t hold it which we did the last 5 minutes of the providence game.

So you can just take a free throw away because someone says something, without calling a T?

WTF Jop

I agree with this analysis.  Jop drives me nuts.  His basketball IQ needs improvement, as does his willingness to share the basketball occasionally.

He struggles off the dribble.  Especially when help comes.

Shaka ball likes to serve cookie crumbles, even in blowouts.

He had the most shot attempts tonight.

Feels like he’s been told to attack the basket and get into the post and he’s been given a leash too. He’s shown enough promise to where I think they should keep at it, but there’s obviously a balance. Frustrating no doubt, but I think if he can develop that part of his game, he’ll be a lot to handle.

Jop is one of the players that has white man disease, has zero hops. Watched warm-ups and barely can dunk.  Unique player, needs to understand what is a good shot is. Will learn

Bardo calling it like it is with FT discrepancy against Friars

The Big East brass must have gotten to him because he walked back these comments later in the game.  He claimed he wasn’t criticizing the officials…lol.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist (except about all the people who are against me) but that 2nd discussion of the PU game seemed totally out of the blue and downright weird.  I can’t think of any other reason for it but someone literally talking in his ear.

In all games, MU's defensive free throw rate is a dip below the national average.  In the Big East so far, MU's defensive FTR is last in conference...by a lot. More so, our offensive FTR is a lot less than our total season average.

Did MU start fouling a lot more all of a sudden and start getting fouled a lot less?  Even despite leading late in all three games?  Did the points of emphasis change for conference play?  Allowing body bumps versus hand defense?

Style of play is going to be an issue for MU all conference season.  Bully Ball will be rewarded for teams like UCONN, PC and SH and not finesse play. It's the Big East Way apparently and as long as these refs reward that, MU will be at a disadvantage.  There is no question in my mind MU AD complained after the PC game and the Home Office is super sensitive as that was a decade long outlier. Yet, adapt and adjust must be the consideration.

At one time out in the 2nd versus SH, Shaka sprinted/ran to half court bitching at Claugherty.  I am surprised he didn't get T'ed, but I'd also be more surprised that he didn't want to get one.

Two teams play the game and dictate the style.

Creighton is 274th in FTA/FGA. Creighton shot 5 free throws against Marquette.
Providence is 20th in FTA/FGA. Providence shot 49 free throws against Marquette (averages in 39 in an average game on just a minutes basis, but Marquette was in the bonus for those 10 extra minutes so its more like 33ish).
Seton Hall is 7th in FTA/FGA. Seton Hall shot 22 free throws against Marquette.

UConn is a horrible matchup for everyone.
