Is Shaka's post game presser floating around?
Yeah he said he is not happy and that MU sucked....

That was a fantastic press conference. As an MU fan, it gets no better. And BE marketing should take what he says and market it. That was fantastic.

I've always liked Brey but it might be time for him and ND to part ways.

Why? The won two games in the tournament last year.

No chance ND goes the UConn route?

I think overall they are pretty happy with where they are now. And if UConn were invited to the ACC, they'd leave too.

Just watched the entire presser. Brey was philosophical, accepted a big chunk of the blame and tried to take a self-deprecating, laughter-is-the-best-medicine approach. The guy has won a lot of basketball games, and, as lawdog said, he won 2 NCAAT games just 9 months ago -- including a double-digit win over Alabama. I'm also assuming this wasn't out of character for him, so his demeanor didn't especially surprise anyone who follows ND hoops. If he started swearing, ripping the players and throwing things, it would have been phony.

One thing Brey implied and said outright a couple times is that ND simply doesn't have the athleticism to compete with teams like MU.  That is directly on him.

I get the fans frustrations with Brey though. Since making the Elite 8 in back to back years in 2015 and 2016, they have been pretty mediocre overall. Last year was nice, but there doesn't seem to be anything resembling progress, especially if JJ Starling is one-and-done.

For perspective, Notre Dame has made 2 elite 8's in the past 8 years. Marquette has made 2 elite 8's in the past 45 years.

Football is what many there care about of course. But Notre Dame is good at a wide variety of Olympic sports. Eventually, if one sport doesn't win enough they will make a change.

He's gone from making the NCAA's 70 plus percent of the time to 60% overall now. And that's the low end of what they would likely accept there for basketball.

He's well liked and well known as a nice guy with a good perspective which has also helped his longevity.

Either you forgot one of Marquette's or are intentionally framing this poorly.  Marquette has made two Elite 8s in the last 20 seasons, one of which resulted in a Final Four.  Yes ND has made two in the last 8, but they lost both.

How about this one? Notre Dame has twice as many Elite 8's as Marquette in the past 44 years.

ND has had more NCAA tourney appearances than MU in that time.

The stretch where MU had more NCAA appearances than ND going back many decades is when Crean made 4 of 6 and Buzz followed with 5 straight.

Overall results between the two schools have been very similar going back many decades.

Marquette has made the elite 8 twice since Marquette won the NCAA Title in 1977. Notre Dame has made the elite 8 four times since Marquette won the NCAA Title in 1977.

Notre Dame has made the NCAA Tourney 23 times since Marquette won the NCAA Title in 1977. Marquette has made the NCAA Tourney 22 times since 1977.

As previously mentioned some of the two teams results have been very similar for a long time.

Correct. But one of those times was in Spring 1978, which is more than 44 years ago. So your statement was inaccurate.

And what is even the point of your nonsense anyway? No one was suggesting that MU was a substantially better program. We are here celebrating a win. And here you are bringing the gloom and "setting the record straight."

No one cares.

Since 1974 Marquette has one National Championship, one National Championship runner up, three Final Fours and 5 Elite 8s.

Since 1974 Notre Dame has no National Championships, no National Championship runner ups, one Final Four and 4 Elite 8s.

I hate ND but always liked Brey.

Ive found I liked him substantially more since he stopped wearing the dark t-shirt/suit coat "Im the GM at a mid tier strip club" outfit.  And grew a beard.

MU82

Since 12:01 a.m. Sunday 12/11/22, Marquette is 1-0 ... and Notre Dame is 0-1, and looked like a bunch of bros playing hoops on their lunch hour.

The rest no matta.
