First of all, thank you, moderators, for creating this little slice of anarchic heaven.

It is fun to go back to the first few pages and see names I haven't seen in forever.
Also, good to know where the ' (?) is evil and must be destroyed' originated.     November of 2006 in preparation for the game against Texas Tech and Bobby Knight.

Recurring themes even then.... the coach sucks, will the coach leave.    Is it fair to expect sophomores (the three amigos) to lead?    The lack of quality big men and the lack in the recruiting pipeline.     Crean unable to attack a zone.

Good times.

Again, thank you mods.

Does this mean that scoop is giving up its learner's permit and finally gets a license?    Or just that we should all get jobs?

I see that ziggy and 4 ever signed up a couple of days before I did.     Good times.

Nov 13, 2006 is when I joined MUScoop.
Guess I should ask my boss off that day.
Do a MUScoop posting binge that day in celebration.

I can't recall if the origin story was posted in full.  I was "hired" via Rivals.com .. I think I was paid $100 a month or some amount of Arby's to manage Ring Out Ahoya.

At some point, Rivals removed a few features from the forums, and I posted on their admin forum that they were useful and I desired them back.   A polite debate ensued, but a day later I was banned from their admin forum.  (wtf?)

I figured this was an error, so I contacted Rivals' leadership.  The reply was that I was rocking the boat and to STFU.   I resigned instantly, and "Alum91" was retired.

Previously, Rocky had suggested a new forum, so I emailed him up and said he should do it immediately, and I'd help move people over from Ahoya.

He and spiral97 did, most everyone followed, and here we are 1.4m posts and 16 years later.

If you had told this story before, I missed it. So thanks for sharing it here ... and thanks to you and rocky for putting up with the rest of us!

Happy Anniversary and thanks to you, Rocky and everyone else responsible for providing this forum. It's a great source of information for anything "Marquette" and beyond.

Rocky appears frequently.

Spiral not so much.   I assume he traded in his Scoop stock options and is living on an island somewhere, being fed grapes.

From internet forum admin skallywag to President. Quite the career progression that prepared you well for needless nonsense.

Frankly, very similar journeys.  I've always had a penchant for .. communication to groups, sharing information, and the logistics of making that happen.

My basketball knowledge peaks at knowing you don't want to get caught watching the paint dry on the picket fence.   I'm no government savant either.   I'm good at using tech to inform people, get them talking, and (IRL) facilitating forward movement.

And SoCal!  He at least logs in from his beach mansion every now and then.

Spiral actually lives nearby in CO now - I guess he's got the Swiss chalet.  I see him frequently, and he know's who's naughty and nice.

Scoop has been a long, generally interesting adventure.  Cheers all!
