Lucky me - I literally turned on the Oregon-Madison game 20 seconds before the game-sealing pick!

Many results from the WIAC that should help Marquette's cause:

UW-Whitewater 48 UWEC 7

UW-River Falls 28 UW-Oshkosh 14

UW-La Crosse 56 UWSP 14

UW-Platteville 46 UW-Stout 38

Platteville wins its first title since 1980, and its first outright title since 1970.

How Louisville lost to Stanford was something special.

https://x.com/smartfootball/status/1858003166752608451

Louisville had a first down on the Stanford 45 with 19 second left, and without turning the ball over, managed to lose. Four incomplete passes...a short gain by Stanford, followed by a incredibly weak penalty, and a subsequent Louisville offsides, put them into position to hit a 52 year field goal. Which they did.

Nebraska has not won a game when their opponent scores 21 points since 2020.

I can understand passing on the first 3 downs to try to get into FG range and win during regulation. But the rest is all insanity. Someone should be fired.

Lots of Big 18 news to cover from yesterday.  Many of these results have a direct impact on Marquette and the Big East.

Oregon 16 Wisconsin 13 - Tough loss for Marquette's closest ally but things looking up for Luke Fleck and company earning a hard fought moral victory.

Rutgers 31 Maryland 17 - In a classic Big 18 rivalry game, Rutgers outclassed Maryland.  Is the Mike Locksley era ending?  Who knows and really, who cares?

USC 28 Nebraska 20 - Nebraska will need to beat with Wisconsin or Iowa to become bowel eligible.  Their game against P.J. Fickell's Badgers may decide the Pinstripe Bowel rep.

Penn State 49 Purdue 10 - Red flags abound in Happy Valley as they allowed Purdue to score points.

Illinois 38 Michigan State 16 - The Spartans continue to flounder and their golden child QB transfer continues to underwhelm.  Have to think Tom Izzo will be issuing a comment about social media soon.

Ohio State 31 Northwestern 7 - The game was played at Wrigley Field on purpose.

Washington 31 UCLA 19 - Congrats to the Huskies on overcoming the rugged Big 18 schedule to become bowel eligible.  Not many pundits gave the scrappy Pac-12 teams any chance to find success in the grind 'em out, big-boy football of the Big 18

Should we be concerned an unranked Badger team hurts our recruiting? I have to imagine Shaka showing recruits where jumping to a song called Jump Around was invented plays well on official visits.

Recruit: "Why's that guy jumping up and down?"

Shaka: "He's actually jumping *around*."

Brian Kelly has won nothing notable in his career as a major-college coach. The one time he was on the precipice of accomplishing something big, he lost to Alabama in the national title game by 1,000 points.

Indeed, the two most notable things he's done in all of his years as a college coach was quit on both his Cincinnati players and Notre Dame players with the seasons still going on.

Kelly has a huge buyout due to the preposterous contract LSU gave him, so they're stuck with him for the foreseeable future. But at least he's got his fake southern accent going for him.

Stop with the exaggeration. He left CMU, Cincinnati and Notre Dame well better than when he got there. Yes he left the last two prior to bowl games, which is pretty standard these days.

I will also point out that you're fine with players leaving before bowl games right? Coaches aren't allowed that option?

Anyway he's a terrible fit at LSU. I don't think many thought he would be.

When players skip the Weedeater Bowl to protect their future earnings, it leads to great pearl-clutching by many - but those folks never seem to mind bazillionaire coaches quitting on their teams.

IIRC, Kelly quit on ND even though they were still in contention for a playoff bid at the time.

So you're just being a hypocrite. Got it.

There's been plenty of players who have left games with larger prestige that the "Weedeater Bowl." The fact you have to exaggerate that shows the weakness of your argument.

Name one player who bailed on his team with a national title still a possibility. Thanks.

Now name a player who has bailed on two teams before bowl games. Thanks.

You made a bad post, then doubled-down with another one. I would suggest you should strive for better, but I don't think that's really possible.
