I feel like Matt Painter is a seriously underrated coach.

He's been at Purdue for 17 years and only missed the NCAA tournament 3 times.  They've finished in the top 3 of the Big Ten 9 times, won the Big Ten 3 times, made 6 S16s and one E8.  You have to go back 40 years to count as many Marquette NCAA tournament wins as his teams have won.

Purdue will be a very solid team next season.

He's done a great job at adapting to his roster and the changing game. They went from a grind you up defense with low-post scoring focus to a spread offense with three-point shooters everywhere to this year's offensive juggernaut. He's been good at figuring it out and I expect he'll continue to do just that.

I went last time.  Not sure I will be able to pull it off this time as I am actually headed there in Fall of 2022, but wow --- what a field!
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Marquette All Time Records vs. The Field.

Output includes games since 1949-50 where both schools were classified as major schools (i.e., Division I or equivalent).

Gonzaga - (1-2)
Most Recent: Gonzaga Win 66-63 on 11/23/2010 *In the CBE Classic*

Kansas - (1-7)
Most Recent: Kansas Win 77-68 on 11/21/2018

Purdue - (1-5)
Most Recent: Marquette Win 65-55 on 11/13/2019

Syracuse - (4-8)
Most Recent: Syracuse Win 55-39 on 3/30/2013 *To get to the Final Four*

Tennessee - (5-3)
Most Recent: Marquette Win 67-59 on 11/30/2014

UCLA - (0-4)
Most Recent: UCLA Win 67-56 on 12/11/2021

Chaminade - No Listed Matchups

So basically, we historically suck against everyone in the tournament.

Our early NET ranking would be what after Maui?

But, WOW … MU’s career record vs.
those teams is Pathetic.  I mean …

I have zero recollection of playing Kansas in 2018.

Played them in Brooklyn, actually led at the half, then gave up a 22-0 run. MU beat Louisville in OT the following night.

Our early NET ranking would be what after Maui?

After we beat Gonzaga, UCLA, and Kansas on consecutive nights we will debut at #1 in the NET. With additional wins over Notre Dame and Bucky to our credit.

That game depicted the season perfectly.

Awesome first half looking unstoppable offensively, but getting dominated in the 2nd half with no defense.

Looks like MU got the call because they needed another easy win other than Chaminade for the teams they want to advance.

You misspelled Syracuse. A lot can happen in the transfer era, but that roster looks awful.

Marquette is awful, and Shaka's gotta go. We'll probably have moved down to D3 by 2023, so I hope Maui will still have us.

They will.  Those tourneys always need the easy outs so the good teams can advance.

Although just as likely is Marquette will win it all, people will think they are good, and come February they will tank in embarrassing fashion

From their experience, can you pay a premium and by tickets outside the arena? Any rough guess on price?

That game depicted the season perfectly.

Awesome first half looking unstoppable offensively, but getting dominated in the 2nd half with no defense.

The season flamed out, as scoop has discussed ad nauseam, but starting with the comeback in that Louisville game was the best stretch of basketball in the wojo era, it was a lot of fun to watch.

It was as fun as the stretch this years team had during “the gauntlet” but if I recall it lasted longer and that team was much better when it was clicking on all cylinders…
It was insight into what could’ve been with Coach Wojo, but alas.

Of course this years squad had a shorter, but also quite amazing run and then fizzled down the stretch in similar fashion, but the narrative and anger wasn’t quite on par with that season.

I know there are differences, I’m just saying. Oops I did it again…

Genuinely curious why you would waste time posting on a board of a team you only talk crap about? Take a step back and think about how you ended up here/where your life went wrong

Although pricier, the view of the games is much better from inside the arena.  I would think the outside seating is free.

This Tournament will be a great opportunity for MU.

The team will be very experienced under Shaka going into the tournament. Any current true sophomores that remain will be seniors . Our true freshman this past season will be juniors . The incoming freshman will have a year under their belt . This past years transfers will be going into their 4th year . What ever other transfers will also be experienced

Playing on a neutral floor in what is essentially a high school gym, I believe we can do very well. We will probably be the oldest team in the field
