Huge PTA fan, but JWags' take is a fair one.
I probably liked "The Master" more than he did, and found "Licorice Pizza" and "Inherent Vice" to be more meh than bad.

Only big disagreement is on "One Battle," which I found to be lots of fun and worthy of all the praise (except for the unnecessary Steve Lockjaw postscript ... though - without diving totally into politics here - I see the point, as perhaps does the former DHS secretary).

Is it about Reeko and his buddies?

No, it's  about a bunch of beta males who call themselves meat eaters but are afraid of cities and images on beer cans and The View and hashtags used by Marquette basketball.

Totally fair across the board.  And while I didn't love One Battle for the reasons mentioned, I don't think it struggled in the "watchable" sort of way more recent PTA films did.  It was a very much a YMMV sort of film but far more approachable than some of the others

We've enjoyed the first two episodes of the new Steve Carell show - Rooster - on HBO.
Never wrestle with a pig.  You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

Company Retreat on Amazon is outstanding. It's from the same people who made Jury Duty. Very funny.

Watched Meal Ticket on Prime Video. A good documentary of all the great players who played in the McDonald's AA game since it began.

Paulie Shore?

I'm not sure if you're joking (I'm thinking yes)...but I can understand the confusion if you're not. I was referring to the 2023 Amazon series and not the 1995 Pauly Shore movie.

In case you were not joking, I'd recommend both the 2023 Amazon series Jury Duty and the absurdly titled, "Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat".

We just watched Bugonia. What a weird, freaky movie. But also fun. Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons were great.

Joking of course.
Didn't think teal was necessary.

I'm familiar with the James Marsden Jury Duty.  Prime is running a lot of ads for Company Retreat.

Watched "The Immortal Man", the Peaky Blinders sequel movie.  Actually a great film that did the series justice.  Started kind of slow, but rounded into true Peaky form.  Found myself more emotional at the end than I was at any point in the series really.  Great cast adding Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan to Cillian Murphy at his best along with bringing back Stephen Graham's character.  Truly felt like a natural continuation of the story, as Stephen Knight alluded to, and not just a money grab for more out of the IP.

Bill Maher, the comedian and longtime political talk-show host, will receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced on Thursday, following aggressive denials from the White House that Mr. Maher had been chosen for the honor.

I've seen some YT clips, usually his "new rules" segments, that make me chuckle sometimes. But I agree with your overall point; he's not particularly funny. I stopped watching his show years ago when I felt he became a scold who often sounded like an old man screaming at kids to get out of his yard.

Still, it cracks me up that someone who constantly mocks the new Kennedy Center chairman - and who is loathed by said chairman - was chosen for this award. And that, of course, the chairman's doberman lied about it.

Yes, my sentiments exactly.

You're being cruel. It's only been about 15 years.
