Great show.  Definitely liked the first season better.

For any Trekkies out there Starfleet Academy just started. Not bad.

Ponies.  If you like your stories to end up in absolute chaos, this is a good one for you.

I was reminded there is a lot of music from the 70's that I loathe.

If you haven't watched it, you should.

I finally got around to Weapons.  Wow, that was some ride.  I'm generally not a horror fan but that was definitely cray-cray in a sorta good way. I didn't know Amy Madigan went to Marquette.

I've been watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. So far, I've been enjoying it. I enjoy the focus on the small folk (although we've seen that might not be an appropriate description for Ser Arlan...).

I never read the books, so I definitely didn't see the reveal coming at the end of E3.

I thought episode 1 of Shrinking season 3 was awesome.

The novellas are fantastic.  They're just Dunk's POV and rather short.  Great stories!

That's good to hear. I read them so obviously knew the twist so was curious how obvious or not it was. Glad it was a fun surprise for non-book readers.

I suppose some people may see it coming, but I did not. After it was revealed, I immediately recalled several hints that maybe I should have picked up on.

Quote from: MU82 on December 22, 2025, 12:50:06 AMWe just watched One Battle After Another.

Really liked it, and can see why it's getting so many plaudits.

Thought Sean Penn was especially good, but the acting across the board was outstanding.

The wife and I just watched.  In some ways bizarre but simultaneously highly engrossing.  Everyone in the cast brought their A+ game across the board.

Man, just listened to one of my favorite podcasts, and the hosts couldn't stop talking about how much they hated it while also continuing to think about it. I love when movies are divisive, can't wait to watch!

I just watched is also - I agree w/ MUinCT that it is extremely well acted.  But I personally didn't care for the structure.  Its just not tight storytelling.  That's related to the ridiculous 2hr 42 min runtime - but I think the real culprit is the lack of decent editing.

My working theory is that with so many options for studios to produce content now, its a directors' market and there just aren't the right incentives for anyone to tell directors like Paul Thomas Anderson no.

It's 2026, but Pickleball Kingdom Paddle Battle has been a fun watch, especially with Jen bring from Minnesota.

I really enjoyed The Pitt, 2:6, an episode showing the chaos from the perspective of the nurses.  True heroes.

I also appreciated them telling Louie's  back story.   Never forget that every homeless person you interact with has a story.   Nobody grows up dreaming of being homeless.

Not particularly new, but I watched the Super Mario Bros animated movie with my son over the weekend.  At 3, hes obviously too young for the video games, but he's been exposed to Mario and crew through a couple YouTube shorts and cross over TV shows and there is a ton of Mario universe apparel and such for kids his age that friends have, so he's familiar with a lot of the cast.

I was INCREDIBLY surprised and impressed.  Its not groundbreaking, award winning movie making, but as someone who played plenty of Super Mario on NES, Super Nintendo, and N64, the number of little jokes related to original gameplay, character quirks, etc...  I absolutely loved it.  There was a scene early on where the camera shifts and its side scrolling for 30 seconds as the characters run/jump up and over things, I was smiling so big my wife was confused.  Then the first time they go to meet Peach, the mushroom guards troll them and go "our princess is in another castle" and I basically giggled and clapped my hands like a toddler.  Highly recommend as a fun family watch

Show has been really good, i struggled to get into House of the Dragon.  Knowing this show's 6 episodes are based around a 100 page book makes me want to read it.  E5 was really good.
Willfully misinformed.
