Avatar 3 is virtually a Copy + Paste of Avatar 2. Incredible visuals as usual but very boring storyline. Quaritch character is the star.

I think it was pretty clear with the second Avatar that Cameron's only interest in non-documentary movies anymore was cool visual effects/shooting.  For someone who has always written his movies, not just directed them, he is terribly out of practice.  Up until the 2 Avatar sequels, he wrote 2 movies/screenplays in the 25 years since Titanic.  One was Avatar, the other was the random Terminator sequel that was a horrific box office bomb.  He's still absolutely brilliant behind the camera, but I don't think he has much storytelling chops anymore, its not his focus.

We just watched One Battle After Another.

Really liked it, and can see why it's getting so many plaudits.

Thought Sean Penn was especially good, but the acting across the board was outstanding.

Quite a season finale for Pluribus. Won't say any more so there are no spoilers.

We're late to the party, but are burning through The Pitt.

It takes an episode to adjust, but it's really excellent TV.  So well done.

Every U.S. citizen should watch the most recent 60 Minutes. It was censored by CBS' highly compromised leadership, but the report was leaked and is available to see on YouTube.

I'm not done watching every season of "Pornography". Will take a while

Anyone check out the new Fallout season?

We've watched the first two episodes. Found the first a little boring, but allowed that they were trying to remind viewers of everything that happened and to push the plot forward. E2 was better, though we still didn't enjoy it quite as much as we remember enjoying the whole first season. Not really down on it, though. Still a good show.

Well, sheee-it ...

Isiah Whitlock Jr., an actor who made frequent memorable appearances on the HBO series "The Wire" and "Veep" and in five films with director Spike Lee, died Tuesday. He was 71.

Whitlock played openly corrupt state Sen. Clay Davis on 25 episodes across the five seasons of "The Wire."

Davis, a fan-favorite character, was known for his profane catchphrase — "sheee-it" — delivered by Whitlock in moments of triumph and blunt honesty. The actor first used the phrase in his first film with Lee, 2002's "The 25th Hour," when his detective character discovers a cache of drugs hidden in a couch.

This has been a great season of Landman.  Chaotic, hilarious, absurd, but with some really interesting deep storylines running alongside it.  One of the most amusing aspects is it cruises along as a fun lighthearted watch, and then immediately dives deep into geology, finance, or business law and you have to perk up and rewind to pay closer attention to details that you didn't need to when BBT was ranting in his car.

Also, binged Task this past weekend.   Really entertaining watch.  Great cast with Tom Pelphry and Ruffalo (though I feel like Ruffalo is starting to play the same exhausted/worn out version of every character he portrays) and Emilia Jones, who was excellent in CODA but absolutely NAILS the grating Delco Philly accent despite being a post Brit who had never done an accent before.   Amusingly, a show based in gritty southeast PA has 2 Brits, an Irish actress, and a South African handling a very regional set of American dialects/accents.

I'm watching it to finish it out, but the writing and dialogue in Stranger Things has fallen off a cliff.

It was not a bad final season if you don't think too hard. It wasn't GOT final season bad but it wasn't breaking bad good. Definitely closer to GOT than BB on the spectrum.

The last 20 minutes of Face/Off is the most ridiculous part of the movie.

Strange, I always thought the first five minutes.

Yeah, pretty bad writing and acting. But at least it's over.

Loved Season 1 though!

Very disappointed with the preview for this film Primate. It's a Chimpanzee version of Jaws?   If people want to see this garbage snag a scumbag serial killer, drop him in a lion, polar bear,  or gorilla enclosure at a zoo and roll the cameras.  The budget would be essentially zero.  You can even give the guy boxing gloves for shiiiiits and grins.

There's theories out there that co-creator Ross Duffer's ex wife was a ghost writer for the show. They got divorced in early 2024 and some think thats why the writing in S5 was so much worse than the rest of the season.

People were also so disappointed with the final episode that a fake rumor of a secret 9th episode that was supposed to air on the 7th got enough traction to impact Netflix servers with people going out to look for it.

Imagine people being so underwhelmed with your finale that they're hoping it was just a misdirection and a secret final episode was waiting to be released. oof.
