The Marquette University Police Department advises the Marquette community to notify MUPD immediately at (414) 288-1911 if you see the individual pictured below. The subject entered the 707 Building around 10:45 a.m. this morning and set fire to a garbage can in the building lobby. The man was last seen walking east on Wisconsin Avenue. Milwaukee Fire Department was on scene and extinguished the fire. Nobody was injured, and the building was not damaged. This appears to be an isolated incident.

Marquette University Police Department officers have taken the suspect involved in the 707 Building garbage can fire into custody. The suspect is not affiliated with Marquette University. The suspect was apprehended thanks to a Marquette student who called MUPD after seeing the university's "Report if Seen" email.

Marquette University is grateful for the responsiveness and professionalism displayed by our MUPD officers.

There was an active shooter - a teenage boy with a gun - at a middle school in Mount Horeb yesterday.

People in the community were "shocked it can happen here" in "such a wonderful quaint little town."

Obviously it can happen there. Think of all the predominantly middle-class and upper-middle-class communities, whether quaint and little or fairly large, that have been shot up - usually by a member of their own communities - over the years.

It's the combination of Gunz 4 Everyone! (not just "a well-regulated militia") plus the lip service about mental health ("It's not a gun problem, it's a mental health problem, but I dare you to try to get us to do anything about mental health.").

So yeah, it can (and did) happen in Mount Horeb ... and Highland Park ... and Uvalde ... and Columbine ... and etc and etc and etc and etc and etc and etc and etc.

And of course crime can happen in the war-torn Marquette campus area, too.

The point is that felons should not be able to easily obtain guns. But you favor Gunz 4 Everybody!

It doesn't matter to you if that means law enforcement people get hurt or killed ... but then again, your cheerleading for the 1/6/21 "patriots" already established that blue lives don't really matter to you unless you think they help score political points.

Jack Wade Whitton struck an officer with a metal crutch and dragged him — head first and face down — into the crowd on the Capitol's Lower West Terrace. Whitton later boasted in a text message that he "fed him to the people."

Roughly 20 minutes later, Whitton tried to pull a second officer into the crowd, prosecutors say. He also kicked at, threatened and threw a construction pylon at officers trying to hold off the mob of then-President Donald Trump's supporters.

"You're gonna die tonight!" he shouted at police after striking an officer's riot shield.

You actually touch on what is going to be an interesting legal and philosophical
argument going forward.   Can felons own guns?  Because a couple thousand gun lovers have felony convictions now.    In the recently mentioned cases,  Charlotte and Elkhorn, felons who had served their sentences returned to society and illegally obtained guns with tragic consequences.   
   Should the convicted felons of January 6 be allowed to own weapons?   Before you answer, should the recent Israel/Palestine protesters who will be convicted of felonies related to destruction of property and assault be forever banned from firearm ownership?
   I am in the camp of a blanket ban.
