My brother and I flew from Milwaukee to Hartford on Saturday and will fly back to Milwaukee Wednesday AM. Staying at Hilton, which is connected to the XL Center. Went to UCONN women hosting #7 Lady Vols on Sunday afternoon. Great experience. Lots of National Championship banners hanging from the rafters. They are wild about women's basketball in CT. Took train and spent all day today at MGM in Springfield, trying to releive then of some gaming money (mildly successful). Drinking heavily at Vaughan's Irish Pub downtown. Great road trip so far.

Mix it, for a newbie, you nailed it. I've been to  a few games out east this year, and though the XL Center is the closest to home, I'm passing. It's the most piss-poor place to see a game, it's so
inadequate that it's depressing.

You flew all the way to CT just to hang out in Springfield? You should have taken the train south and Pizza hopped the 3 of the best pizza places in the world in New Haven.

Porky strongly seconds MUCT07's guidance.   If you have the time and are into that sort of thing, the White Clam Pie at Frank Pepe is not too be missed.   For traditional Pizza, Porky favors Sally's, but can't go wrong at either.  Porky assumes the 3rd place MUCT07 is referring to is Modern Apizza but can't be sure.    Never been there but heard great things about Modern as well.

Lived 2 blocks from Modern in the early 90's and it was my take-out dinner spot every Friday night.

The lure of 7-8 hours in a casino outweighed travelling to New Haven for a pepperoni pizza. Just one of those weird personal choices.
