That Is insane if true. Hope things are truly OK on his end.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Not sure why, but made me laugh.

Maybe he can take Justin's spot next year after he heads to the NBA? 😂

In all seriousness I'm pulling for Dawson and hope things work out for him.
Kid battled his behind off down low in conference last season, he never quit.

Hope the tar heel fans don't destroy him too badly if it's true.

Two things:    If true, I hope that the family issue resolves itself in a positive manner.     Being 1000 miles away from stuff going wrong at home is rough.     Good luck.

Second, and far, far less important is what will this do to his NIL?    Unintended consequences.

Just guessing that their are exit clauses in the contract?  Pro-rated money?

I actually thought about that as well. I really have no idea what agreements it will violate and potential losses

I thought that was Brian Butch.

Skip Intro

I saw that he was out for the Va Tech game last week due to "an illness in the family", and that he had headed back to MN.  He was held out with a concussion earlier in Jan, then lost his starting job and played sparingly since coming back.

No matter the circumstances, you gotta hope he's alright.

Huge error in judgment to leave MU. That said, adios, hey?

Besides one Twitter account, there is no news of this anywhere else that I can find.

Hope his family emergency resolves itself in a positive manner.

I feel bad for the kid and wish him the best.

This is yet another cautionary tale in calling high school kids "program-changing recruits," or "sure things," or any of the other sky-high things that were said about Dawson. Stuff happens, and they are young men with families, personal lives, etc. I hope everything ends up being OK with his family, and that Dawson eventually can have the basketball career he wants.

Pay the man.

Really wish we could see the rest of the text chain.  Starting "College sports is ruined..."  I'm sure that had a ton of nuanced insight.

GoldenEagles03

On the basketball side I wish him the best. Hope everything works out in the end. Shaka is a big man's dream coach. I'm sure he sees where Justin is and is second guessing his decision to leave.

Most importantly I hope that he and his family get through whatever they are going through.
VIOLENCE!

brewcity77

Haven't seen any actual confirmation this is true. It does look like he'll be missing another game due to family issues, but nothing official regarding him leaving the program. The username isn't exactly one that screams "reliable CBB source." Not saying it couldn't be true, but entirely possible this isn't on the level.

jfp61

Is this genuinely a "family emergency." Or is this a family emergency to be granted a waiver next year at Minnesota?

Here's a question. If Lewis goes pro would you want Shaka to try to re recruit Dawson?

Nah, has that ever happened in the history of college basketball?

I would want Shaka to make that decision. Garcia is certainly a talented offensive player and rebounder. But considering this UNC team's tendency to forget about defense and Garcia's history of cutting his teeth in Wojo's system, his scoring might not be enough to get him to fit into the Violence defense. His name also frequently comes up when UNC's defensive effort is questioned. But if the staff thinks he could do it, I think they've already earned the benefit of the doubt.

I thinkt he validity of this specific tweet and the actual details is very up in the air.

Him being done at UNC was being floated out a lot over the last 24-28 hours though well prior to this tweet.

IMO, DG is not the player that Shaka is looking for. Sub par on defense, plays below the rim, not that athletic.
I expect Osa, Keenan, and a transfer to man the 4-5 next year.
Funny how we have moved from someone on Twitter posting about DG.....to will he play for MU next year. Ha

I agree but he recruited him out of HS.

I was just tossing the idea out as would you want Shaka to, not "will he"
