Favorite play:  Vander's game-winner against Davidson
Favorite game: MU vs. Kentucky to advance to the Final Four my senior year.
Favorite game attended: Beating #1 Cincinnati in 2002. We were in the front row of the student section. I brought the American flag.
Favorite season: 2002-2003
Favorite player: Wade
Favorite coach: It's early but I already really like Shaka -- seems like a great coach and a good person.
Favorite team: The midgets were fun
Favorite jersey: I like the alternates from 2007-2011.

Cincy was #4. Duke was #1 almost all season before being upset by Indiana (who we'd beaten in Alaska) in the Sweet 16.

Favorite play: Glenn Rivers' heave to beat ND on 1/10/81. Bedlam ensued!
Favorite game (non NCAAT): 1/9/19 at Creighton. It was absolutely impossible to win that game. Sam's amazing shot that they reviewed for what seemed like forever; Markus with 53.
Favorite game (NCAAT): The Tony Miller game vs. Kentucky, 1/20/94; The Dwyane Wade game vs. Kentucky, 3/29/03. (I "liked" Marquette in 1977 but had no attachment yet.)
Favorite game attended (non NCAAT): Marquette beats ND on Rivers' heave, 1/10/81.
Favorite game attended (NCAAT): Marquette beats Mizzou, 3/22/03. Diener shines, Wade is Wade, Novak takes over in OT, we're in Sweet 16!
Favorite season: 2012-13. Beat Madison; started BEast title-winning campaign with Junior's shot and ended it with Vander's drive; ranked throughout second half of season; beat ND; drama vs. Davidson; beat Miami (game I attended) to reach Elite Eight. It just felt like the program was all the way back. (Sadly ... no!)
Favorite player: Sam Worthen, my first "star" as a Marquette student. Later: Wade, Diener, Jae, Markus.
Favorite coach: Really, really liked Hank and Rick ... but from a coaching standpoint, loved the toughness of Buzz's teams.
Favorite team: My freshman year, 1978-79, had a lot of fun and/or quirky characters: Oliver Lee, Sam, Artie, Toone, Jim Dudley, Odell Ball. But for delivering the goods, 2002-03 and Buzz's S16-S16-E8 teams.
Favorite jersey: Untucked, of course, but I really liked the unis my last two years at MU (Rivers' first 2 seasons).

Favorite play: Novak game winning 3 vs. Notre Dame at home
Favorite game: 2003 win over Kentucky
Favorite game attended: Definitely 2003 Elite Eight win vs Kentucky
Favorite season: First year in Big East; I was one year out of MU and living in CT and we were playing #2 UConn in our first game...all the UConn fans were so cocky...it was almost as satisfying as shutting up cocky Kentucky fans in 2003
Favorite player: Jerel McNeal
Favorite coach: Wojo......just kidding!  I loved Buzz.
Favorite team: 3 Amigos senior year
Favorite jersey: 2003 uniforms

Yeah, the atmosphere at the BC was rather glum as that game ended.  MU was 1-21 on treys and Marcus Jackson was bringing the ball up as PG and Dameon Mason was totally out of sorts along with no Travis Diener.  Seemed like the MU world was at the bottom of the barrel as we were leaving the BC.  But, the next year was the first season in the BE and things got considerably brighter!

Least favorite play: Reece Gaines!
Least favorite game: NIT loss to Western Michigan
Least favorite game attended: MU vs. Kansas in the Final Four; it was cool being there...but the game was hard to watch
Least favorite season: 2018-19 because we should have won Big East; instead we limped into the NCAA tourney and got whitewashed by Murray State
Least favorite player: Brad Davison
Least favorite coach: Wojo, easily
Least favorite team: I hate losing to Seton Hall.  HATE.
Least favorite jersey: 2003-2007

Ah, my bad. May have been confusing them with an earlier or later version, they were definitely #1 at some point during my tenure. It may have been a year or 2 earlier against the Wardle-led team. Maybe the team with Kenyon Martin?

yeah, that 1999-2000 team with Martin with #1 much of the season. We played them on ESPN on a Sunday (back when that was a huge deal) and we were down 29-2 at one point. I remember Martin blocking a shot about 10 rows into the stands. If Martin doesn't break his leg in the CUSA tourney they may have been able to beat Michigan State for the title that year. He was an absolute beast in college.

Agree. He was kind of Zion Williamson-ish, a total brute with skill.

Cinci and DePaul (with Richardson and that group) had a couple good battles back then.

Worst game attended: Losing to Miami (Oh) in the opening round in '78. Nothing I attended even comes close. And I was at some bad losses.

If I'm talking about the stakes involved, the worst for me was the 2013 EE game vs. Cuse. We never ever got a damn thing going in that one.

But for pure crap-ti-tude, I think the worst had to be Marquette's 51-50 loss at DePaul in 2010. DePaul really sucked -- fired Wainwright a few games earlier and were on a long losing streak -- and we were an NCAAT team. But we played dreadfully and let DePaul hang around. Lazar missed at the line and some DePaul player threw in a jumper at the buzzer to win it in the final second.

Least favorite play:  James broken foot
Least favorite game:  Hard to narrow it down to one. Maybe the Elite 8 vs. Syracuse. I’d convinced myself we were going to win.
Game attended:  BET semis vs. SHU in 2019. Theo bogus ejection, Powell being able to stay in. Markus shooting 1-a million.
Least favorite season:  13-14
Least favorite player:  Derrick at the time. Hard to hate such a good kid. Joey with hindsight.
Least favorite coach:  Wojo. Not old enough for anything pre-Crean era.
Least favorite team:  13-14.

One of my favorite games attended was the win over Duke at Dane County Coliseum in 1980, my sophomore year. Duke had Gminski and Banks and were big favorites, but we built a pretty big lead and held 'em off. IIRC it had to be moved to Madison because NBC wanted it in the afternoon and the Arena was booked then. Being on national TV was a huge deal back then.

What was cool is that the place was rocking with Marquette students; most sweater-vests didn't make the trip. After the win, we stormed the court. That win played a major role in MU making the NCAAs that season.

I remember that too! It wasn't too hard to get close to the court in those pre-Wade days.
