......Oh yea thats right we won.  The posers who are suppossed so called fans are in hiding.

Maybe just maybe.......

....we are a pretty good team
....a NCAA caliber team that is not on the bubble and can make some noise with the right matchups
....this team does have talent
....a healthy Louisville is really really good
....Louisville and UConn are just some very bad matchups
....TC can coach and motivate

Sometimes a true fan just needs believe a little in their team instead of ripping them apart when they are down.

We peaked at 116 users today.  Apparently everyone was so happy about they win that they immediately ran to the bar for a celebratory drink.

MUFanInGreenBay

I still think we can give Louisville a much better game. I don't think we're better than them, however, I don't think they're 15 points better than us. Having DJ healthier makes a helluva difference on this team. For all the people who think we won't miss him if he leaves after this year: You're crazy. He's the straw that stirs the drink folks.

I said it after the ND game... even though we lost, I felt better about the way our team played.  I thought tonight would be a very tough game and we won pretty easily.  Let's just build on the momentum and take it game by game.  Friday is our next big game... Spittsburgh at home.  We gotta get that W.

FIRE UP MARQUETTE!!

Good win.

Way for this team to shed its troubles before the important Pitt game.

43 total rebounds for a +21 edge...and an astounding 22 offensive rebounds!

Even though MU was pulling away early, this was a hurt and foul-stricken team.

Let's keep this confidence for the Friday game so our shots will drop.

We're still not getting:
-inside production
-Fitz's hot hand (low confidence = not stroking it when he needs to)

This was a great road win - we dominated and won hands down.  And scoring 89 with James just at 9 showed some good depth.  McNeal and Matthews got some nice points (14 each)  to get into double figures - James fed Barro some great no-looks, and Cubie got 10.  But Lazar - WOW - on fire - let's have a night Fridya night where all of our startes are on fire at once - and we will win!

Go Marquette!!!

Anytime you win by 25 on the road in the BE it is a great win.  Great overall team effort.  We really played within ourselves tonight.

  • Grabbed the lead on the road and never let up
  • O Rebound effort was huge.  Ooze and LH really set the pace
  • DJ distributed the ball as well as I have seen him

Thought JM played well within the offense in the second half...letting the shots come to him.  He is better on the catch and shoot from behind the arc.  I loved the one play when JM passed it into Ooze in the high post who then popped it back to JM for the trey.  Sweet

Head scratcher:  Ooze on that double T.  Did he even taunt or move his lips?  I thought the refs sucked and had lost control of the game.  Ooze was mugged every time he went up for a shot with no call.  On one, Mo was forearmed out of bounce and they called him for stepping on the line.  A five minute review for a flagrant foul that the side official was looking right at?  The BE really needs some QC.

Huge road win.

for our fellow alums that have floated over to the dark side of hate and negativity - I welcome you back.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

MU NY

....I love a win as much as the next guy but Easy now folks...I was there last night:
SH was injured and a man down after they lost Nutter to a cheap shot flagrant foul...not a good team.
SH didn't score for the opening nine or so minutes...couldn't find any breaks
Not buying the "this was a good road win" theory...or..."we bounced back nicely after a tough loss" theory.
SH was an intramural team out there.

One nice thing to see is the continued outstanding play of Mr. L.H.  Manchild out there last night!

It was the same team with the same injury that played us to a 5 point game in Milwaukee earlier in the year.  And MU already had a 20+ point lead when they lost Nutter due to the flagrant foul--no way can you blame SH loss on Nutter's departure from the game.

MU stepped up its game tremendously compared to the first time these two teams met.

Last night provides at least some evidence that those of us who chose to see the positives in the ND game, and that this team may just be getting back to playing their brand of basketball, may have been right.

One of my comments after ND was the following...

I'll say this too, they really seemed to be having fun at the end. Not sure if Crean was relaxed without the tie on or what, but those huddles toward the end of the game looked like an awfully loose and confident bunch. They need to keep that up along with the intensity down the stretch...

I pretty much saw the same group of players and coaches when I watched the game last night. The defensive intensity was awesome, and just as its absence is to blame when we lose, was the biggest reason we won the game. SHU never has a chance.

ATWizJr

Really nice to see the Eagles return to form last night.  But that is what is was, a return to form.  Maybe, as DJ said post game, they have finally reconnected with their identity.  Sure hope so.

The announcers mentioned yesterday how loose the team was during their shoot around and how the players wanted to stay longer than TC did.  This is a good team and we are right there.  If you listened to TC's radio show and watch his tv show you can tell their is a loose easy confidence about them that they are right there.  Far from the confidence that more than a few have shown around here.  I think they are going to roll the rest of the way.

muwarrior87

Maybe this year is just a role reversal from the past few. I have a feeling we can finish strong down the stretch for once if we really have found our team's identity.  Please no injuries.

muPARTY

I've been hard (sometimes very hard) on them the past month or so....

Last night, very good win.  Seton Hall, good team, no a great team, but a good team.

this isn't a rain on the parade rant, i'm just going to say, i'll wait till after Pitt.  we saw a good performance on the road against Cinci, and they followed it up with a drubbing @ home.  Pitt is a very good team, they will be tough.  if they can take it to Pitt and win (not saying blowout) then i will agree that i think they turned a corner.

Great win, let's keep it up

Big Papi

I think more than anything our schedule is set up real well.  Georgetown and Pitt at home helps a lot.  We still have St. Johns and Rutgers that should be wins.  Villanova is down this year so that helps a lot.  The only loss I can really chalk up right now is Syracuse.  Even with the injuries and short bench they will be extremely tough to beat on the road against that zone defense.

Hopefully we should take care of business and maybe steal the Georgetown game and we could have a real nice long win streak heading into the BE finale.

You can definitely wait until after the Pitt game but I still feel that we just matchup very badly against UConn and Louisville.  I know we could have performed a lot better in those 3 games but if you just forget about those 3 games and look at other 20 games, you would feel better about this team heading into this PItt game.

I kind of agree with this statement.  UConn and Louisville are both very strong at a lot of the same areas.  They both do exceptionally well at limiting 2-point field goals, and they both block a lot of shots.

My guess is that the matchup issue prevents a lot of Marquette's strengths at driving to the lane, which reduces Marquette to a situation of needing to hit open threes.  Plus each team has the size and quickness to neutralize Hayward.

According to you the other day, we now only have one more Big East win left.....I'm still waiting for you to step on that claim.

this is just good natured discourse, not me trying to pick a fight or be an ass  ;D...

there's only a handful of preseason games i feel good about.  but i don't understand why it's ok to "forget" about the teams we don't match up well against, but it's perfectly ok for us to look at (count) the games where our opponent was greatly outmatched (those 5-6 'buy' games).

i think the 2 louisville games and the uconn game (along with the ND games (both), WV, Duke, and Wisc games... hell, all the BE games) are the ones to look at rather than the buy games like Savannah St or Coppin St when it comes to team performance and character.
