Cooley, oh! A fantastic voyage
« on: January 04, 2022, 10:02:58 PM »
1.   Good defense, offense, rebounding, took care of the ball, attacked the rim, made enough 3's.
2.   Everything every MU fan has been rooting for all year.     For one night, everything clicked and it was glorious.
3.  OMP.   Not a waste of a scholarship.  You need length in the Big East.  I like him as a starter.
4.   Kuath controlling the interior.
5.    Welcome back, Mr. Jones.
6.  OK, quit fouling 3 pt shooters.
7.   They never quit.    I am a huge fan of that when they are behind.    I am a huge fan of that with a lead.
8.   Good to get off the schneid.     Everybody exhale.
9.   How about a streak now?
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

Congratulations to Shaka and the team.  Great way to win your first game in the Big East.
Let's continue that play at Georgetown!

Ill take a win streak for MUBB anytime. Hopefully this game showed that MU can win a slow-pace half court offense game. Hope they can integrate it more when the frenzy-offense isnt working.

It will not result in 32 point blow outs everytime

But please, let’s make it a point to establish the paint early like tonight from here on out.

Let the 3s come naturally later. This team is athletic enough and can pass well enough to work it to the rim

A pretty significant change in offensive mindset leads to a much more visually pleasing game. Rather than three point attempts by volume, work the ball inside and establish scoring in the paint which then opens up the three point shot. Probably a better strategy in the long run for this squad.

Phenomenal strategy to take out Watson from the game. Fronted him on the strong side and crazy good ball pressure made entry passes impossible. He barely touched the ball.

The talent is there, fellas.
Great to see them put it all together. MU won't blow out good teams like PC on the regular, but they're capable of playing some pretty good ball.

This team is still very much a live bullet. The early wins were no fluke. This is still a dangerous team. We just lost several extremely tough games to very good teams and many wrote the team off.

The schedule softens up for us. Those losses will drive the team to improve and team cohesion will only continue to grow.

Most complete effort we've seen since Brent was around.

Great rebounding position and team rebounding effort, defensive rotations were outstanding, very few runouts/easy baskets, and the ball movement was great.  Very fun to watch.

Was wondering how'd they come out after having a loss pulled from the jaws of victory, but not to worry.

They set the tone from the beginning with great defense. On offense, they showed a new dimension by attacking the rim. With big guys. Not like having guards attack Kalkbrenner.

Nice to see JL inside the 3-point line. Good passing, sharing.

Let's take this energy to GT, where, if weather and Covid cooperate, I'll cheer them on.

God, I love nights like this.

Yes.  I have been saying this for quite some time.  There's a big difference between an "open" three and a good three.  We usurped this game early by slowing down in our half-court sets, moving the basketball, and establishing the paint with Kolek dropping dimes.  In tandem with slowing down, and taking better shots, we also took care of the basketball.

This team without question has a number of good pieces.   We should be able to defend well enough to be in games when shots aren't falling.  Oso and Kur can finish around the rim.  I actually think Ighodaro could really break out by next year.  He's becoming much more fluid and confident.  Anyway, this was a complete team performance and hopefully they can bottle what we saw tonight.
