If there's any form of media that has put this entire world for the past year and a half in a nutshell, this movie is it.

The Sultan

I watched about ten minutes and turned it off.  Did it get better?

It's pretty good. It's a satire on the climate change "war" but it also fills in quite well for covid and people who refuse vaccines.

I made it through about 20 minutes.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

I can't recall a movie I've seen in the last ten years that bored me more. That movie sucked.

As soon as it got to the initial Oval Office scene, I knew this was going to be a "Hollywood taking itself too seriously" movie and turned it off.

It's almost like the people that didn't like it have something in common. So strange.

And yes, it could have been shortened by 30 minutes.

MUBurrow

I thought this article summed it up pretty well - https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/29/opinions/dont-look-up-critical-mistake-thomas/index.html.  tl;dr - movie sniffs the hell outta its own farts, aina?

I dunno, I agree with every point they were trying to make, but I've also been living through it - watching a metaphor for something I agree with and am living thru is not a fun use of my time (i.e. maybe I'm not the target market. Or I am, but it was a bit too echo chambery for me)

I made it to the first oval office scene and went to bed while my wife finished it.

Fair enough, my daughter was similar in that she said she's living it, stressful watching a movie about it.
It should have been edited down to shorten it.

I mean, this was a movie making fun of everything in politics for the last decade.  I don't feel like it was 'aimed' at one side or the other.

It's a dark comedy with heavy social commentary on how we've ruined our society.

Did people really take it seriously?

I didn't.  I just didn't think it was particularly funny or interesting.

I'm as down the middle as it gets. I understood the point they were trying to make. It was just boring af.

This should have been a Netflix mini-series, not a movie.

But you watched 10 minutes.

Yeah if you don't get me in ten minutes, I'm watching something else.

So how can you comment on whether the whole movie was funny or not?  You basically read the headline here.   ;D

I said I didn't find it funny or interesting, and even asked at the beginning of the thread if it got better.

No.

It's intentions were OK. The execution was terrible.

No, it can't just be a bad movie.  ::)

What do Fluffy, Jockey and Dish have in common that you don't like?

Goose

Lenny

Let me count the ways.

Let me count the ways.

Other than obnoxious football posts and bad gambling advice, I rarely ever say anything that moves the needle either direction around here.

Goose

Dish

You are correct. My bad. It is the other two with so much in common.

Not sure what any of that has to do with this movie.
