Like to stay optimistic but man.
Missed uncontested open dunk by a guy 6-10.

Am I the only optimistic one?

Young team fought to the end with two of the best teams in the conference.  Lot's of mistakes no doubt but I think they are mistakes that can be fixed.

Anyone who thought this team was going to be a well oiled machine was foolish.  There was always going to be a learning curve.

Pinnacle was probably west Virginia. Will be a long conference season here for us. Covid might determine a lot too

Joplin is a stud.  More minutes for Joplin.  He seems built for the Big East.
Lewis is a stud.
Prosper did much better today.
When Kolek or Cam drive, look to get the pass, not be looking at the rim for a rebound.
Oso looked lost the majority of the game.  Out of his league this game.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

What did people expect?  A smooth oiled machine this year?

Notwithstanding the missed dunk to tie the game at 67, the bottom line is we didn't get enough scoring from our guards tonight.  We missed several good shots down rhe stretch but never got a lead which was a killer.

Lmaoing @ people on this website with thousands of posts but not enough common sense/basic knowledge to realize we wouldn't be smooth sailing through top 25 teams all year.

It was a good battle against a good team, all without one of our main players and undisputed leader.

Lewis needs at least 20 touches in the post per game. He was fearless against bigger, longer guys. We went away from that down the stretch.

Really likes what O-Max and Joplin brought tonight.

The lack of 3 point shooting will kill us all year. Glad we made the adjustment at half to get into the paint, but the scouting report is out on Marquette. Sag off the 3 point line and push our young guys, (Kolek/jones) away from the basket. Lewis is a stud, but he won’t be able to do what he did tonight the rest of the year.

The last two games I’ve honestly expected us to get blown out. We fought and fought hard. We could be 2-0, but a missed dunk here, poor decision there, lucky shot by an opponent everywhere, and we are 0-2.

As the broadcast guy said, Marquette is playing much better than the 9th best team in the Big East.

I’m not a “moral victory” guy, but honestly, I felt positive about the performance overall. The last two games have been much better than UCLA and St Bonnie, where I was concerned.

The chicken littles squawking after every loss this year are annoying, but you’ll never get rid of them. That’s life. Some people are just built that way.

But, I agree with you. I have some optimism, and frankly, despite the 0-2 start, I am more optimistic for the rest of this season than I was before those two games were played. The kids are young and they’re going to miss shots and make dumb mistakes, but they’re fighting. Oh, and Omax and Joplin showed signs, which was encouraging.

Young teams don’t. Let’s see what happens next year. Shaka knows we need at least 2 3 point shooting transfers. Plus the underclassmen get a year older. UConn senior laden team, graduates.

That’s not true but when I see that level of idiocy it’s difficult not to respond.

Losing always sucks but plenty of positives to take away from tonight.

100% true.

Interesting thing is the posters most critical of the team are also the most polite and don't personally attack other posters.

The knee jerk defenders just throw out insults.
