Oso and Kur are two of your five best players. Find times to get them both on the floor. You don't want to start that lineup because both foul a good amount, but there are opportunities. If Xavier is going to have Nunge, Freemantle, and Jones on the floor together you can match up Lewis, Oso, and Kur with them. And it's not like our other guys are creating tons of space with their shooting. Oso has shown me enough off the dribble scoring. Would like to see a big lineup.

Start OMP.   Can't have both bigs on the floor at the start since Kuath always needs a quick sit.    Can't have two post players playing 4 out dribble drive.  Wojo tried that last year.

I don't mind the starting lineup. Would just like to see both bigs on the floor at the same time sometimes. Oso the screener in the pick and roll because he can put the ball on the deck to finish, Kur in the dunker's spot, hit the offensive glass hard with those two and Lewis, guards get back on defense. We don't have the shooters to make the case that we need to spread the floor.

Would only be a situational lineup. But in a game like today I think it can work.

Yup. I get he's not the focal point of the offense by any means, but the guy missed three bunnies. This team can't afford that with how poorly they shoot.

TrojanWarrior

BLM, you make an interesting point for at least trying during a game. Go Big. When we drove and drew fouls against X, it was the best we played. Their inside got soft when the fouls mounted up. I have given up hope of Kolek hitting any meaningful number of threes in a game, and Morsell is still learning his role. He seems unsure at times. Jones needs an offseason in the weight room and Mitchell plays like he is 5'10. Prosper seems to struggle because he is thrown in to play a game he is not used to.

BE teams are going to figure us out pretty quick, so having options to keep teams guessing is a strategy worth testing.

I keep wanting OMax to do well, he looks like he should be able to do things, and he keeps not getting it done.

bilsu

Just wait to next year after Kur graduates and Lewis goes pro.

mug644

Watching OMP tonight reminder me of Trend Blackledge. Lots of energy and athleticism but very little production. I hope he can temper himself, but it seems that he is just trying to do too much with any given play.

BCHoopster

Lewis is long way from being a pro, so he will look good in the G league.  If he leaves, the transfer market will be a big play otherwise really a weak team!

panda

Starting Omax is laughable. Omax playing more than two consecutive minutes is even questionable.

He brings very little value at this point. He really needs to up his game.

BE teams have been scouting us for weeks. They've scouted all the other conference teams, too, as have we. There are no secrets.

We are doomed. Might as well not even field a team next season. Maybe we'll be lucky - Covid will get really bad and we'll win 20 games by forfeit. Go Covid!

The OP was about a big line up.   Playing Osa and Kur together.  I don't think it is plausible, due to roster construction and skill set.   I suggested OMP as an alternative.   After all, MU's record is better with him starting than with Kam starting.  I freely acknowledge that he is out of control at the moment.    But, since I think playing Kur and Osa together is worse, the only way for MU to get bigger is to put OMP or Joplin on the court next to Lewis.  I think OMP is more ready than Joplin.

Wait till everyone is gone.  Thank God for high school players and transfers or College basketball would go away permanently.

OMP provides some length defensively, but other than that he's a black hole out there.

As for the record with Kam starting vs OMax ... might that have something to do with the opponents? Three of his five starts have come vs ranked opponents and on the road.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

OMP is one of the better rebounders on the team and is an above average defender. So he doesn't bring zero value....but many his offense right now may be bad enough to cancel out his value on the boards and defense. The man has no feel around the bucket.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

For years guys were drooling over Cain's upside and are giving up on OMP after 12 games, simply crazy. I think his upside potential is far higher than Cain's and think he has a chance to be a good player on both sides of the ball. I would not be building a team around him but think there is more basketball skills than he has shown thus far.

tower912

We are in accord, Goose.   I see a 6'8 swiss army knife forward who has a whole lot of upside.   Yup, his shot isn't falling yet and he is playing a little out of control.    It is just plain silly to be writing off any player in this team.

He looks good getting off the bus, in lay up lines - whatever expression you want to use.

There's nothing wrong with saying he has upside, but at this point, his current ability does not warrant playing time.

I see him much more in the blackledge light than Cain.

I agree that OMP has great potential.  He's long, active, athletic.  We are better defensively with OMP on the floor.  I don't know that I'd agree that he has more potential than Cain, however.

OMP plays really hard and he's so close to finishing on many of the close range shots - those will start to fall.

I agree with you, but in the world of changing landscape, I would hope he brings in another forward that is not a prospect.

Trend Blackledge and Yous Mbao, with a little less length.

Erik Williams and Joe Fulce, with hopefully fewer injuries.
