I find it so fascinating that Stevie, Kam and at least one other guy have done the floor slap. Every time someone does it I kind of tilt my head and say "did he just do that?"  Just seems ironic to me.  Has it become a thing with younger guys or is it just ironic?

Sorry if posted elsewhere. Love scoop but generally don't read past page one of any post cause well, you know....

They're thanking Wojo for recruiting them to Marquette.  A nice nod from them

I also find this ironic and hilarious at the same time.  Wojo if he's paying attention at all has to be cringing.  He shied away from it and Shaka embraces it.

His teams never had an opportunity to slap the floor with the way they played D

Ha!  Agreed.

It is a code as to what defense they are playing.

The Sultan

Wojo didn't invent the floor slap for defense you know.  It was around before him and others have used it since.
"I am one of those who think the best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy, who, under the specious and popular garb of patriotism, seeks to excuse, palliate, and defend them" - Frederick Douglass

We R Final Four

Shaka slaps the floor more than any of his players.

A fitting nod to the man who laid the foundation for the #11 team in the country.

One of the good things to come out of the pandemic was coach's dress code relaxing. I mean Huggy Bear was ahead of the game, but nice to see catching on.

Al wore a tie.  Really disrespects the program to dress like a hobo, imo

Disagree.  With the amount those guys get paid, there's no reason they can't put on a jacket and tie for two hours.  It makes the games seem just a little bit bigger when the coaches are dressed up.  Leave the warmups and golf shirts for practice time.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Hobos wear polos, khakis, and brand new Jordans?

Unless you are referring to Huggins, in which case you are correct.

Real men wear coats and ties.  Hobos wear anything else

Shaka slaps the floor and really gets the crowd energetic as well. On TV its not as cool, but in person it is awesome.

Huggins BE tourney like 9 button gold zoot suit was an all-timer.

I can imagine the convo with the AD:

AD: "Huggs, in this tournament you're wearing a suit."

Huggins: "Not gonna happen. You know I'm a track suit guy."

AD: "This is not negotiable. The BoT is putting their foot down on this one. It's suit or you're bussing back to WV before game one tips."

Huggins: <death glare> "Fine. But you're not gonna like it."

Bankers and attorneys don't even wear coats and ties anymore.  Do you expect a basketball coach to dress fancier than they do?

For the record, I prefer people to be dressed up.  I like doing it myself, and I hate going to an expensive restaurant and have the guy next to me wearing cargo shorts and a Tom Brady jersey.
Have some patience, FFS.

We're establishing a culture here.  Hard work isn't sloppy and being casual.  Hard work is serious business and serious people don't go to work in tennis shoes

If you're trolling: Bravo

If you're not:  Wojo wore a suit every day, and we were the most mediocre team in college basketball, if not in all of sports.

And Al McGuire wore a suit to every game.  Shaka hasn't won a tournament game since he quit wearing a tie.
