He's indicating that Shaka's career was dead at Texas and he's rising from the dead at Marquette, I assume. The Catholic school angle may be part of it too. I think it's a pretty bad one, even by Rothstein standards.

I honestly think Rothstein is a fan of Jon Rothstein, CBB personality first, actual CBB second.  Dude loves to hear himself talk and repeat his own corny catch phrases.

It would be wise of you all to view Rothstein as an ally. Like him or not, he has a decent following and him mentioning Marquette is good for our brand.

His following is no more significant than anyone else.  He's not swinging recruiting battles.  Marquette is in a top conference, with a big name coach who is known across the country, they aren't a plucky upstart who needs a media mention.  They just need to win.
