RIP Michael K. Williams, aka Omar Little.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/06/entertainment/michael-k-williams/index.html

Yeah, I put this in the "What are you watching" thread, but Omar probably deserves his own.

I hope he got to enjoy Honey Nut Cheerios to the end.

Early reports are a heroin overdose.  Truly tragic. He’s been so profiling for so long and hadnt let up in either output or quality. By many accounts a really great and friendly person off screen too.

Damn, that sucks.

He was really good in Boardwalk Empire and The Night Of, too.

I haven’t seen The Wire (which I need to). He was the best part of Boardwalk for me.

If you liked Chalky, you’ll love Omar.  One of the most fascinating tv characters of the last 20 years

The Wire has stood the test of time and still holds up well and is a top 5 series of all time.

Who rounds out your Top 5 Ziggy?

BB?
The Sopranos?
Deadwood?

Just curious.

An absolutely awesome dude. Everything I read about him and interviews I’d see would show it.

This one shook me. He’s one of my favorite actors.

Most everyone knows him as Omar(rightfully so) but he’s one of the absolute best out there as an actor.

He was also due to be accepting an Emmy award in 2 weeks.

He was also great in Lovecraft Country. He always delivered powerful performances.

One could make a pretty damn respectable all-time TV ranking just choosing 5 from a list of best-ever HBO shows ...

The Wire, Sopranos, Deadwood, Game of Thrones, Veep, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Six Feet Under, Larry Sanders, Barry, Succession, Chernobyl.

Not sure I could choose a top-5 ever across all networks. I mean, how does one compare a 25-minute comedy about nothing like Seinfeld to an undertaking like The Wire?
